Ok to keep it short..

Washing powder/liquids all have varying amounts of practically the same ingredients. Some cheaper ones have less of the better ingredients, some don't.

I want to try the washing stuff from Aldi and Lidl but don't want to buy it in case its crap. i want to compare their (and any other own brands) to the bigger brands. For that I need to know what the ingredients are in each.

I keep forgetting to take a notebook and pen when I go shopping. So could mumsnet help?

Put the name of your washing powder, where you get it from (if its an own brand) and the ingredients - they are usually listed as below with the same percentage ranges for the ingredients - and then the price and size of box/number of washes.

That way we can work out which is the best value per wash. (oh I know, I'm being soooo anal today!!!)
Sadly the powder I've been using for a couple of months is some I bought from the bargain shop it must be an end of line or something and I've never seen it since. Shame as its brilliant.

Footprint Ecological 16 washes for £1 (I did say it was from a bargain shop!!)

15-30% sodium carbonate, phosphate, sodium dislicate.
5-15% nonionic surfectant, soap
less than 5% enzymes, carboxymethylcellulose, perfume.

So go on ladies, have a peek in your kitchen cupboards and lets all compare

I use the pods from Aldi. Very good they are, too! I use one pod per load.

I live in a hard water area. This week I bought some soda crystals (85p) which I add to the machine drawer with each wash. I now use half the amount of detergent for the same cleaning results: I am kicking myself for not having done this sooner. Hope that helps.

I get some powder from Savers called Clean n fresh (i think) it is 89p for 13washes and the clothes always smell like washing powder. A friend actually asked me what i use as i always smell of clean washing. I use the non-bio for most washing and use the bio for sofa throws, towels etc. I also use whatever softener is on special offer there, usually Fairy almond milk and honey, and i use the Astonish stain remover powder £1.99 for a tub that i think works better than Vanish (£5.99 a tub)
