Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

We have this wall-mounted one from Ikea.

I remember an old fashioned one of parent's friends - with hunting scenes painted on it grin

A new trendy one and my dear old Gran's retro one from the 50's. I remeber she dhad it by the side of her armchair in front of the TV and she kept her "Radio Times" in it along with a bakelite tissue-box holder...

Of course we have a magazine rack! How could we live without one?

Ours came from Peter Jones at least 10 years ago.

So funny to stumble across this thread - was just thinking about you SEA. Feeling the need to start an ex-smokers sympathy thread tonight (cravings driving me crazy just at this particular moment).

I searched everywhere for a nice one. Cannot for the life of me remember where we got it from. Weirdly, i think I spotted one in a second hand (repossession) place.

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
