How do steam cleaners work on carpets? I understand them on cookers, hard surfaces - but on a carpet where does the dirt actually go?
Don't know about steam cleaners but we have a George, which is a Henry that washes, and it pains me to say it but it's a bit crap.

Well it hasn't improved our ultra-stained beige carpet anyway.

Soem say the Vax is pants, manhy disagree.

My steam cleaner is broken so need to replace but tbh. I think a carpet cleaner might be better as that is what I'd mostly use the steamer for.

If there were such a thing as a carpet cleaner that doubled up as a steam cleaner for snaitising stuff like the fridge/cleaning windows that would be great...

So, which do I buy or hire?

The priority here is ultra stained dining room carpet - beige. hmm (not my choice).

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
