Tip of the day

Don't get in a panic over Christmas. Keep a box and put a little in it every week - small gifts, wine, nibbles, napkins etc. This way, you'll be more relaxed and less skint in December! keriku

Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

Hello to all. Ooops. It's after 11pm so I'll keep it short.

I was going to do the washing up but instead I e-mailed a few friends incl gibb. smile

Off to bed! Nos da pawb.
x-post, glad your party was good, a nice way to round off holiday.
Not managed today
homework of any kind
ironing ditto
tidy kitchen no
telly-free eve no
home blessing no

But have managed
to tidy front room and our bedroom a little
trp to Mcdonald's with voucher a success
bolognese for husband (and shepherd's pie in fridge for Wed)
taken ds1 to Cubs
picked him up on foot [long walk there and back]
rang two friends
had a nice drink and chat with dh in garden before Cubs pickup

So a good day all in all

now to make lunchboxes
I went to the Passport Office in the end Galen, because I couldn't face the ENVELOPE. Luckily it turned out to be next to Harrods shock so a fun morning (well I didn't go into Harrods, but felt as if I was having a fun morning window shopping etc)

Hope your dh got to his parents safely.

Evening all

We have had a great time at the party and stayed far longer than planned.

Children will be shattered tomorrow.

It wasnt that hot here folks and I could not leave all that ironing from the hols not done.

I have a busy week ahead of me and two councelling sessions, so I am hoping I can hold it all together.

See you all in the morning

The last little bits of bedtime routines were a test of my patience though!
Still all DC home, fed, bathed and now bedded
Lunches done
dinner cleared
laundry rebooted
dishwasher on
Sports kit sorted for DS1 rounders tournament tomorrow

Forgot to buy envelope so will do tomorrow on way home from school and will post forms yay!

It has got quite hot here later in the day...have sports afternoon tomorrow too so that will be fun in the sun...

Hi all*
*mad
and scatty I did that last summer hols with my two - I just had two columns, go and do and I laminated the things and stuck velcro on them (sticky back velcro, which is cheap). Then I did a laminated Mon - Fri plan with morning and afternoon on it, and a piece of velcro backing on it; and every day they chose one do and one go and stuck them on. Sounds like a faff but didn't take long and they LOVED it, and we got through the whole list by the end of the summer. Thanks for reminding me!!!
Had a lovely day today. Did the whole Home Bless this morning - first time in ages I've done it - managed it in about 90 minutes and felt liberated afterwards! After lunch I played with the children all afternoon except for making the tea - it was brilliant and they absolutely loved it! It would be worth getting up early to get the jobs done, I think, if I could just chill all afternoon, without thinking about all the things which need doing. Of course, it meant DD had to play on her own this morning whilst DS at nursery, which I can't do every day, but she was fine with it for once.

Well see you all tomorrow, hope you are ok on your own, Galen, and not over doing it.
mad Looked at the link again and instantly thought BUT she has girls smile
Scatty I didn't make any sense did I blush
swan hope nothing is broken!
Mad Ironing in this weather, madness! Enjoy your evening
Dyls We hardly have a hall, corridor or stairs makes cleaning easier.
Ds Tea Stir fry done
Our dinner almost prepared (stir- fry)
D/W on
2nd lot of washing dry (This weather keeps things cheap)Done
another load ready
Failed on the T.V front but agreed he couldn't have bedtime cbbies.
Ds played with hose & buckets in the garden
DH giving him a bath now.
Should go running with neighbour (ha! not likely) DH eye-me up, think bubble <<< that's why she is slim and you are fat, dear!>>>> I know what he is thinking but, won't dare say grin
Left to do
Little bit of house paper work!!!
Dinner
prepare for lessons tomorrow
Mad Have a nice evening. And ironing? Gosh, I have a massive pile to do, but think I seriously would die.
dyls Decorating? You must be crazy!! I can barely manage to walk across my living room, never mind decorate it!

I actually turned my tv off today and put the radio on. Ds1 looked slightly confused blush Remember he is under 2 years old blush blush
Thanks girls for your calming words. Feeling better now. Mad that website looks fab, have saved it for a proper look later. I have made ds a time line (he finds the calendar confusing) out of post it notes with his stuff written on (with picture prompts), he can take them off when the day passes. It seems to be a hit, he keeps going to check how many sleep until his party etc smile.

Done:
swimming (passed stage 1 phew)
spellings
laundry reboot
Avon been

To do
wash up
laundry reboot
unpack and repack bags
sandwiches
dc to bed

To hell with house bleugh today.

Galen - hope dh is ok.

Stagger home and drink water and attempt to show MIL I'm not a drunken slattern.

BBL
They say they are playng with soft toys, but there is an ominous clanking whenever screeching stops. Ds1 is making an enormous pile of dvdshmmto watch at school.

Can't bear to investigate.
dyls Yes, that was I was thinking. I live in a flat, so the entrance isn't mine to clean iyswim, but I did it last time round so is looking fine so I'll stick to living room this week.

I managed to sort out my cd's. They are all in the right cases now. The cases are still really dusty though, don't know why I didn't think about giving them a wipe while they were out, prob coz I'm a little bit stupid! grin
The area is a bit like the first time I shined my sink, so pretty. Well, not pretty, but in straight piles which looks better than just chucked down next to sofa blush
Mad Yep! like that idea. Might e-mail my couisin ask her what there is to do near my aunt's. Then make the a list with Ds. Otherwise we will drift along doing the same things at my aunts house as we do here. Except in Spanish!
scattyspice Wish I could hope.
I only had to make two work related calls today.
Okay taking a little break from ds, he is playing with a new town toy from Sainsburys.
Another load out of W/M & on line.
More bed linen & tea towels to go in next.
Now I need to do some of that blasted paper work then make tea!
Timer gone off now apparently I have to play construction worker now! Trying so hard not to put the T.v on blush
Superhot here, I was wearing a sarong doing housework TPT. But house though grimy is quite cool.

Done
present
and work
and pickup

We have never had Sky and never will but we do rather like Freeview. Every now and then a lovely programme comes along that we all wait for and watch together, seems more fun live.

Dcs seem to have survived but are now quarrelling over hosepipe, so in fact Dyslmum you are better off without one.

Scatty, it is just the way they talk talk talk endlessly about their own preoccupations, all dcs simultaneously, that is so wearing. It's very difficult to just smile and nod, one just wants to switch all the demands, especially sound track, off, coupled with the fact that you must be giving your emotional all to your patients and father as well, AND being so supportive to us on this thread too.
Hope the swimming is not too tiring on top of everything.

I've now issued an ultimatum to dcs that if they don't PLAY WITH THEIR TOYS and stop quarrelling, I'm going to THROW them away. Dts have retreated to loft to save the Sylvanian Families.

Soon we are going to Macdonald's to use up dd's Raffle win, a £5 McD voucher grin she was overjoyed.

Oh dear, don't think my ultimatum worked they are screaming in distance.
BBTues
galen yes wM fixed, it had a blockage its merrily washing clothes once again smile
havent managed to do the bedding tho, will do it tomorrow now i think

prof it is incredibly hot, am wishing for a garden and a pool right now grin. i do mainly use tv for dvds etc, i occasionally put it on in the eve to watch eastenders if i am bored lol. i never know what anyone is talking about cos its always about the latest progs blush

lbb yes we often have a mixed week due to working to calenders. although as i dont really have a hall, entrance porch i tend to do living room each day plus the missions for zone 1

LBB Not sure about the sneak peak

Prof If you can get away with it then do it. Me and DH like our TV too much to give it up

galen you are all in my thoughts at the moment. It must be so hard, take it easy this week and remember you can fly next week

scatty I think that it must be really hard having issues at work and at home - you have no escape from anything. Try and work on one issue at a time. Why not try and change DS's focus from a specific event to something each week you can do together. I really like this I am going to try a paired down version for the boys

Well I have:

Done the shopping
sorted the garage
done half the ironing
coloring and maze games
Sang some Wiggles with DS2
Collected the cat

I am angry to find out MIL did all BIL and SIL's holiday ironing envy

I have also bought a card for the party this evening and the boys have coloured one too.

Still to do

More ironing
Put it away
Make us all a little more presentable
Dinner
Go to Bros collecting mum on the way
Question........
I have just looked at the 'sneak peak' for the week and am wondering why we only have today and tomorrow in the living room and then back to Zone 1? So this runs on calendar month and not weekly then?
scatty One word for you. Valium. For you and dc's! (only joking) Sorry it's a bit tough at the mo, hope it gets better soon.

I'm just putting off organising my cd's. I don't think any of them are in the right cases! Think it might be one of those 15min a day jobs.
prof I would also really like to get rid of our TV and just have dvds , but not quite brave enough! (we dont have sky etc... either wink)

grouchy huge list, no wonder you're shattered - take it easy!

gibberish How are you doing? Hope your taking it as easy as possible.

DD on school trip orienteering - so hopefully school is beign sensible re heat. Also school disco - will be sweltering no doubt.

Have been clearing out kitchen cupboards in a swim suit - not a pretty sight!

Storm damage mainly sorted with exception of tv aerial - we must be the last people in the world not to have sky etc.

Am now considering not replacing and just using tv for dvd etc.

What do you reckon? Will it make us social outcasts?
morning all
swan hope school not too hot. Bit overcast and breezy here so not too hot really.
star thanks for thread, enjoy salsa with ds!
dyls hope wm is fixed
mad wow 11 loads of washing, impressive even by my never ending laundry standards!
lbb impressive list!
MT cuppa sounds a good plan
scatty sorry you're feeling overwhelmed. And sorry ds is being a challenge. Its a hard time of year for them I think, definately a holiday feeling brewing stoking the excitement thing....yet school and routine not quite done with. Hope things settle down. Take it easy for a bit, basics only , till you're feeling better in yourself.

Things not too bad here. DH took DC to school, before heading off to airport for his flight to Ireland. I am so sad for him. It must be an awful feeling going to say goodbye to your Dad, knowing this will most likely be the last time he sees him. Wish I could have gone with dh...hate the thought of him being on his own....
Anyway things otherwise OK
Thankfully today is Homestart helper day, so got on top of things this morning.
House bleugh more or less done.

Feeling positive so far but no doubt will be flagging by Thursday!
Right need a quick cuppa...

BBL grin
Hi all.

Its very overcast here, not hot at all sad.

I am feeling very overwhelmed ATM sad. Lots of things happening and all this stuff at work is just dragging me down sad. I need to get a grip as I am becoming very snappy. DC are very hyper at the mo too, so many things to look forward to that they want it all to happen NOW. Ds was up at 9.30 last night complaining he was bored and again at 5am! Then he told me that he isn't happy all the time. He just wants life to be one big party. I don't know how to help him chill. He also tends to look forward to things soo much that he is inevitably disappointed in the actual event. It feels like the run up to Christmas. (Aggggg).

Anyway:

TO do:
swimming
laundry
Avon money
floors

Swan Unfortunatly there is only HSE regulations to cover minimum temps - 16 degrees. There is still no regulations covering maximum temp for working in.

FWIW at DS1's school they had a couple of UV sails installed as they recognised that the playground had no shade whatsoever. Big yellow things on steel poles.

This is my past life creeping up on me - I was a Facilities Manager for a top three software company and it was a bug bear of all the techies we employed

Last load has been washed
Last load in the dryer

I have had a clean round downstairs and am going to do a shop and collect the cat from my mums - the boys are missing Mr Smudge
Mad That link is still last weeks for the bedroom. Does anyone know today's for living room?
swan IIRC there is a certain temp that if reached, staff aren't allowed to work anyway, so surely the same must apply for children and schools.
FWIW I don't think I'd be happy sending young children to school inm this. We're not going out today, it's not fair on them.

Finish morning routine (just waiting for ds2 to nod off before I jump in shower) done
Home blessing hour done
Hoover done
Change beds done
Polish done
Mirrors & windows done
Glass shelves done
Today's mission - when I find out what it is!
Pop to tescos
Go for blood test
pay council tax
pay off some on the tv
make drs appointment for tomorrow done
15min detailed clean
5 min room rescue (room to be decided!)

Just have to hoover living room, but need to find the floor first grin

Morning all

I need to get back on the fly wagon big stylee - 11 loads of washing to finnish drying and iron shock

mission

Zone this week is the living room

My List

Ironing
Put ironing away
tidy garage to fit in roof box
Food shop - the house is empty of food
collect DS1 from Preschool
Lunch
Birthday card
More ironing
Whats for dinner
Off to 81st Birthday Party

I also need to rememebr to send in some money so that DS1 can try school dinner next week - eek

Star I dont like the jogging pants thing either. We do full school uniform from preschool. DS1 goes into reception next year and he can do his trousers without the need for nasty jogging pants.

Will be back later
Very easy morning - children appear to be holiday mood, and
lunchboxes prepared last night smile and then assembled by dd with glee
cold water bottles to all
hats found for all
ds2 woke at 5.30 - put on DS1's uniform, came to wake us and then conked out again on our bed till 7.30 grin
dd practised her violin scales

feel slightly uneasy about the dcs at school in this weather - it is like a furnace in playground, with hardly any shade and headmistress said we weren't allowed to take kids away if it got too hot, in fact she just said it wouldn't be too hot hmm. Anyway will just have to wait and see what it's like this afternoon when I go in.

List for today
dw unload and reload
sort out tickets for visit to parents
clean out fridge a bit hmm
prepare shepherd's pie to use up stray veg
put away laundry
vacuum car and wipe down inside whilst it's in shade
swimming stuff back in car now dry
make beds
s & s
update calendar further

go to school pm
Well I have to try harder to keep up with these threads! You lot are just too chatty grin

So, to do
Finish morning routine (just waiting for ds2 to nod off before I jump in shower)
Home blessing hour
Hoover
Change beds
Polish
Mirrors & windows
Glass shelves
Today's mission - when I find out what it is!
Pop to tescos
Go for blood test
pay council tax
pay off some on the tv
make drs appointment for tomorrow done
15min detailed clean
5 min room rescue (room to be decided!)

Thinking of skipping everything that involves going out, don't really ant to take the boys out in this heat tbh.
Thank you LBB
Right back on track. Can't start the day without you lot blush
Haven't made a full list yet
Wash & dress
Washing in W/M
Put fridge food into containers so I can empty quickly when the repair person turns up (bound to be a man!)
Plumber too this morning
make beds
bits of paper work
Take Ds to gymnastic
shopping for bits
I'm sure there is more but enough to go on.
Swan So true jogging bottoms are easy but I wanted the 'my little man has grown up' look too!
Done
LBB I don't know how to link it from the weekend there is a weekend thread. Can you do it blush
Morning star I've been on the FlyLady website, but doesn't look like it's been updated from friday.

Am dreading this week. I hate cleaning the living room, there is so much crap in here. Far too many dvd's and cd's. I never listen to music anymore.
Too hot to do too much this week anyway, excuses I know, but hey, next time will roll on quickly.
Morning all, Hope this works blush
