JKS I thought it must be a problem with the keyboard but I have followed clairey instructions and it is now all fixed. Thanks clairey*

I always use the vitoria sponge recipe for fairy cakes, but spoon it out into cake cases.

My friend has just left, it was lovely to catch up. There are toys everywhere and most of the toy boxes are empty!! I was going to tidy up straight away but I have decided that there is no point until my neices and nephews have been.

I love my cooker a double oven at last!!

Peppa go to control panel, then regional and language options, then click on the keyboard and languages tab and you should get the option to change the keyboard to English uk

(It has driven me mad each time I've lived abroad because the keyboard has been set to different languages and I haven't been able to type properly!) there is a shorter way of doing it on the keyboard itself but I can't remember how!
Peppa - i used to get that with my previous laptop. you have to hunt around trying everything to find where the things that you want to use are, sure the £ sign is hiding somewhere!

Yes Martha Stewart is a domestic goddess I have watched her life story (her ego ruined her marriage though) and yeap she went to jail for fraud I think

Can underactive thyroid make you abit narky, I can get abit like that sometimes and don't know whats wrong with me, never put it down to my thyroid???
CC - what have your DC said about fighting?

Think its Martha Stewart, who is an american domestic goddess!! (though was it her that was jailed)
This rain is really miserable sad

Sorry to be a bit slow but who is Martha???

Ds1 was hoping for a lazer shoot out party for his birthday, but I have looked into it and it's 11 pounds per head and you have to pay for a min of 10 people. So I will have to talk to DH out it. It is his 13th so I would like to make it special.
I had to type out pounds because my keyboard is behaving oddly, when I shift and 3 I get a quotation mark and not a pound sign, also I have to press shift and 2 to get an @ hmm

I am so mortified! DD1 and DD2 (11and 10) decided to have a punch up during tennis lessons. DSil took it upon herself to come in to tell me and that DD2 had run off. Found DD2 and have her siting at the kitchen table, have grounded both of them because of it, supposed to be going to a party at DSILs house aftr dinner hmm.

trying to decide whether to take DD2 back to the doctor (she has an underactie thyroid), because she has got very aggressive lately and is constantly fighting with everyone

Apologies, know this has nothing to do with the slatterns thread but I just wanted to vent
CC grrrr I'm really trying to budget at the min,
and my mum wants me to go out to M&S tomorrow night to get uniforms I told her I would rather not as we have christening this week and was waiting until next when I will have more money,

but I think she thought I was just putting her off and is annoyed that I won't let her buy some of the uniforms(MIL bought some last year) so I backed down, and will let her get some, she still gets staff discount even though she took early retirement,

anyway it will help as I can put the money I save towards a daytrip out for dcs (or maybe even a night away in our towbehind)[eek]

Cikecaka I now have to turn my cooker off at the wall because we have had several melting things incidences (ds likes to put his toys in the oven then turn it on). Also dd turned one of the hobs on and then put her hand on the top -luckily she put her hand on the opposite side to the one she'd turned on.

All I seem to be doing today is getting dd food (must be a growth spurt) and changing ds' nappy, he's done 5 poos already today shock

Alice just read what you wrote yesterday about your mum and I think that would be my feeling too. It all sounds very complicated!

Need to hang my washing up but it feels like ttoo much effort at the moment because I have to clear the airer first.

PLum my airing cupboard could never look like that-we only have 2 shelves and they are both really high so I either have to jump or stand on a chair to get stuff (I usually go for the umping option which is why mine is always such a state!)

Will post list later if I can get motivated enough blush Am too slatternly even for the slatterns at the moment

PMSL over the towels! Would they not take up more room?

Decided to clean out my top presses this morning, as I want to do a big shop this weekend because our fis (family income supplement) stops this week while they renew it, takes up to 14 weeks. Have decided to use it as a way of saving for christmas! So want to use my childrens allowance to do a big shop and then pay some of my esb, gas and bins! Hope it works!!

Anyhow while cleaning out my presses, I was using my cooker to put stuff on, DD3 was helping me! Got down to put stuff in the bin when I got a strong smell of coffee, DD3 had put on the cooker ring and coffee bag had melted! sad. Then when I was moving the drinking chocolate, the lid wasnt on properly and spilt all over me blush. So ended up making more work for myself!!

Glanced at the thread quickly thought you were all laughing at my towel instructionsgrin although they were hideous too grin

off to check out the fitted sheet ones although mine are done in a roll/fold way too Ali
Dear god those instructions look hideous - I will stick with my rolling method I think. DH only stirs up the whole airing cupboard when he puts things in and out anyway so any tidy folding is short lived!

JKS - FIL doesn't make an effort to see DS. I just get angry about it, but I see how hurt DH is by it. FIL sees the DNs all the time, very annoying. Must be hard when it's your own parent .

The biscuits were a success, they have all been eaten and DD1 enjoyed using the animal cutter, I have promised we can have some more tomorrow, I am going to try swaping 1oz of flour for 1oz of cocoa powder.

The clutter clearing is going quite well too, I have sorted 2 boxes, one of CDs and one of paperwork most of which can be shredded, DS2 favourite job so that has been delageted to him.

Hi everyone, my hair is done, but she took abit too much of the front I have like a side frindge thing going on nowhmm

Anthea does have a way of folding her fitted sheets so that they look nice and flat but I never seen that episode!

Not sure I can explain the towels
lay towel flat fold in a third(longways) then fold over the other side
then take the ends and fold them so they meet in the middle
then fold that over you should have a nice square with no edges showing

Anyway back to the dinner, didn't get making it earlier but got out to buy all my ingredients

Peppa Yeap I'm the only sane one too grin
CC - sorry we x-posted earlier!

JKS - at your day.

I was wondering about the hotpress I call it my airing cupboard.

DS1 is going to be a heartbreaker, he is turning into a handsome young man, blonde hair, blue eyes!!

Ali My DH would like 6 DC, I don't!! It's not practical, house too small, car too small, bank balance too small. I would have to be a working mum if I had anymore.

clairey I have trouble folding fitted sheets too, I suppose a way to fold them neatly would be to iron them first, but I'm too lazy to do that grin

JKS sad about mums dinner and friends DD birthday tea.

Awww at your dd

Alice - it does sound complicated! so does your mum now look after you (suspected) autistic brother & the baby with Downs? must be hard work.
And sounds you are making the right decision about the dog

Well my day going kind of pear-shaped. The car wasn't ready to be collected post-mot yesterday so DH went to collect this morning and was gone ages. so he didnt take ds1 out.
And just had a text saying we may postpone the mums dinner until next week - was looking forward to it!
Plus got a text from my babysitter saying he can't do wed afternoon (dh working) so ds1 and I can't go out to friend's DD's birthday tea.

clairy My DD is nearly 21 months, so i had already had her before my mum got pg. I was furious (didn't tell her though) as i felt she had had her turn and although i don't like to admit it, i think she did the wrong thing having the baby. My brother is suspected autistic and a bit a handful and she knew the baby she was carrying was downs with a big risk of heart complications. She told us that she would terminate if the baby was disabled (if she knew early) because she wasn't healthy herself and didn't think it would be fair bringing a child into this world if she was unable to provide the care it would require.
She was never a mother to me or my next sister who ended up living with my mum's mum.

Sorry if long, it is all complicated
The seat belt goes over the arm, threads through the back and out over the other arm. You have to pull it really tight, but it is secure.

I have decided not to look after this puppy anymore after today. He is my best friend's dog and she is the only person who ever babysits for me but it is impossible trying to look after the two of them and keeping them apart at all times. Puppy is getting more agressive everytime she goes near him, and when i put him in the garden he just digs. It is starting to stress me out tbh. I have now got puppy sleeping on my lap and DD is playing on the other side of the room, so ok for now. It's sad because he really is so loving, but feels threatened by DD (not blaming him tbh!) I don't know what time i have got him til as my friend has gone in for a hernia op, and they are going to pick him up on way back from hosp.

Sorry for moan, but can't really moan to anyone in RL in case it gets out and i hurt her feelings. I will have to think about how best to word it to her.

Oh wow alice so your dd's aunt/uncle is younger than her? My uncle and my cousin are the same age which I've always thought was quite cool (but not sure I'd like my mum being pg at the same time as me in reality!)
Add message | Report | Contact poster By Tue 28-Jul-09 11:33:09
Alice your seat must be a better argos one than ours then because the one we got for ds is much flimsier than dd's bebeconfort one, also hers has 3 different bits holding it to the seat belt wheras his only had the one clip and that snapped just with me adjusting it-thank god it wasn't an accident or he'd have flown out of the car sad.

I always had images of a hot press being one of those big iron type things where you fold the clothes and put the lid down (don't know what they are called but my gran has one!)

How does Anthea fold her towels, I try to keep mine neat but it's always a mess. Doesn't help that it is narrow but deep so we have piles in front of each other. Fitted sheets also give me problems, no matter how you fold them they are never flat!

I would still love to have 3 but DH is worried about how we would afford it since we would need a much bigger house. Since I've given up work I don't want to pile the pressure on him too much financially, although he is doing very well at work. We will see, I may yet get my way!

I am the eldest of 5. Me -24, K-23, J-20, JO -7 and Ki 7months. I was the only one who lived with my dad though, so felt like an only child - but in a good way!

Have taken DD and puppy for a walk so they are both happier. Puppy has really taken a dislike to DD and if she touches him he snaps at her, so i am unable to do anything. I can put him in his cage but he will be in it for a couple of hours this afternoon, so don't want to put him in it yet. I think he is scared of her tbh, Was fine when he was very small has he didn't seem to mind and he was so tiny that he couldn't do anything iyswim? Oh well, it's only for the one day.

Peppa - 6, wow! i'm one of 4, 2 of each. that's always been my plan, lol. though actually i'm convinced i'll have a third boy next time.

we mostly don't acquire carrier bags anymore either since a big effort to change to reusable ones (my fave are the hessian type ones), but every now and then i'll end up with one and it gets shoved in the cupboard and will get used for something. we can put them in our recycling rubbish here now so i have to try to save a couple for odd jobs!

Ignore my typos, I told you I was up way too early!!
Morning smile Well I was up way to early again DS3 is turning into a early bird!!

alice I will take a look at the argos book for carseats, that sounds like a real bargain.

WME I don't have any carrier bags either because I have gone a bit mad buying reusable ones, it's so annoying when you really need a carrier bag.

JKS Hope you have a great meal later.

I've added more to my list, some will probably go into tomorrow which is OK because I have to stay in on wed, new cooker arring smile

I've got no carrier bags in the house. In the ten years since I left home it's the first time I've ever had no carrier bags.

I used up all the disposables we had left over from holiday last time we ran out of wraps. grin

DS is still stuffed into his first stage carseat. It's safe, but it doesn't look very comfy. We've been planning to sell the big car and buy something more efficient, and didn't want to buy the seat til we'd got the new car, but we've been taking our time. blush

- DS boobed, changed, dressed done
- breakfast
- dry pots
- fold dry washing
- sort out food cupboards, using new baskets
- wash nappies
- wipe round bathroom
- me showered and dressed
- paperwork!

Nothing else til that lot is complete.
Argh, have written a long post and then lost it!!! Hate it when that happens!

Anyway, was saying how our carseat is from argos, 5 point harness, side impact protection goes from 9mo to 11yrs and costs about £45. DD finds it very comfy even though it doesn't recline and will fall asleep in it. We looked at lots and this was no different than the £100+ ones.

No list today as have my friends puppy round so can't really leave the room with them both in (he's fine, but because it's not my dog, i would rather keep an eye on them both)

Have a good day all smile
Ali - well done on sorting grandma

Car seats are so blooming expensive aren't they + parental guilt over getting the safest one that fits the car etc. We have gone for Recaro ones which DH loves and i do for the 1st & 2nd stage but not so convinced on the older ones.

Plum - lol grin

WME - loving the image of the carrier bag!

Hello Slatterns! We were staying with my grandma over the weekend and had to stay an extra day because her heating system broke. She is 86 so wanted to make sure it was all fixed before we came home. I am bloody knackered, she's had building work done and the place is still dusty and grubby - my Aunt lives 15 mins away from her and has done next to nothing in terms of sorting things out. Bah. I've also got my first period since DS was born and it's knocked me for 6. However, I have got my new Dyson because we bought it to clean her house with - I love it!!!!

WME - I have disposables for emergencies like that, and to use for the last nappy before we go away so that we don't have an odd one to wash or leave in the bucket. DS is in a wool wrap for the first time tonight - really hoping it will be good as he's been leaking through his PUL ones a lot recently.

Clairey - at your carseat issues

<sneaks in quietly and hopes noone notices how late it is>

DS had his first night in a big boy bed last night. He settled much easier than he has been doing in his cot but after he woke at 4 he didn't settle again and just kept crying off and on til 6. At about 5.30 I yelled at him then slammed his door blush then dh went to him a couple of times before we gave up and let him come in with us-luckily he did then go to sleep, normally I hate him coming in with us because he just climbs all over me, fiddles with my boobs and generally annoys me! He has dd's toddler bed now and she has a full size single, it looks massive in her room and she looks tiny in it!

Also yesterday the clip that holds his carseat to the seatbelt snapped off when I was adjusting it so we've had to fork out for a new one. Maybe serves us right for only having got him a cheap argos one? We've ordered one that turns into a booster but still has the 5 point harness for when they are smaller, dd will have that one and he'll have her carseat. We couldn't afford it though so my mum has bought it and that will then be our xmas present from them sad

PBM I got ariel excel this time because it had £3 off in Sainsburys but it smells really strong compared to my normal detergent.

WME DS is a complete wee monster at the moment and is soaking through nappies within an hour, 2 at most. I've had to put him in a disposable a couple of times recently while I catch up on the washing.

Peppa I need to declutter in a big way, just haven't been motivated lately.

Clutter clearing, I am going to do 15 mins at a time because this is a boring job!! *about to do some more I have decided to do one room at a time, I keep flitting from one room to the other, firstly I am going to sort through the boxes of stuff from the living room, so that only what is needed comes back.
I ran out of clean nappy wraps, so DS is wearing a carrier bag, which is fine while he's napping on me, but won't do when he wakes and I aven't hung the nappies out so there won't be one ready when he wakes up! Aaarrgh!

What I would like to get done today:

strip & make beds
get all the reamaining clean washing ironed/ sorted/ put away
IThink Plum Sounds like DP - useless at doing the weekly shop.
pbm your DH sounds just like mine, I remember once he went to do the weekly shop and he came back with cakes, chocolate and large jars of coffee but nothing for dinner!! He is good at lots of things but not the shopping, thanks goodness for online supermarkets because if I don't feel like going to the shop I can get it delivered.

Right I really need to clean up the kitchen, I have been distracted by MN, DS3 waking from nap and putting on a Maisy DVD for DD. Can you tell I don't really want to do it???
Plum - I will be needing your cake making expertise advice end of august I want to attempt to make DP birthday cake grin
and I've never done it before
Right back from town and feel like I can relax as I got some washing powder, although not my usual brand so I am abit nervous,

we normally go to the wholesalers and get washing powder etc but dh hasn't had the time, although if I go it normally works out cheaper because he starts to buy tubs of Harbiosgrin

peppa you may find it best to just do an ordinary biscuit recipe then adding the chocolate chips as decoration before you put them in the oven.

Here is a recipe i used to make easter biscuits (i decorated them with icing pens)

100g (4oz) butter
100g caster sugar
1 egg
225g (8oz) plain flour

Preheat oven to 180c/350f/gas 4

Grease baking trays
Put butter and sugar in a bowl, mix til light and fluffy,
Add the egg, mix well.
Sift flour into the bowl, gently mix, then knead mix into a smooth dough.
Wrap in cling film, chill in fridge for 15 mins.
Roll out dough on floured surface.
Cut out shapes, cook for 10mins.

They are nothing special, but are ideal for doing shapes. Good luck smile

Alice that would be great, what I am actually looking for is a recipe for a chocolate biscuit/cookie so that my DCs can use the animal shape cutters that MIL bought them, all the recipes I have involve shaping the biscuits with your hands.

CC I off to do 15 mins of clutter clearing, will let you know how it goes. This is my mission for the week.

We went to a hog roast last night which was nice, but DD got over excited and overtired and was a bit naughty and wouldn't settle enough to eat any dinner. I think she ate about 4 slices of ham and some strawberries blush Late night home for all of us, so we are all a bit bleh today.

I want to get back into a routine this week as things seemed to have slipped a bit.

Well done CC! I've got a kitchen timer, so I might give that a go.

JKS, he often has a beard, but shaved a long mexican 'tache in a few months ago, for a sort of costume, but it suits him and everybody loves it. grin
However, he needed a new passport photo and didn't want this moustache to haunt him for the next ten years, so shaved it off for that.

Hi all, I haven't been on here for a couple of days, I have been feeling really tired, all this decorating combined with the school holidays is getting to me, as fast as I tidy/clean its gets messed up by DCs or DH doing all the DIY. Well anyway I am going to have a lazy weekend, just doing the essentials and a couple of early nights and I will hopefully be back all fresh and motivated on monday.

Good morning all smile

Sorry for rant last night. It was just the last straw and i had to let it out somehow blush All ok now though, half a bottle of wine and a crappy film (Muriels Wedding) and i had chilled out again.

Fil is coming this afternoon and we are going to see family for a hog roast this evening. I'm quite looking forward to it but i will probably drive. FIL isn't an alcoholic or anything, its just he is one of those that enjoys a rather large glass of wine with his meals. With DD in the car. i don't want him driving. Which means we will all have to squeeze into my little A Class (including 2 labradors!)<eek>

The house is looking ok at the moment, will just have a quick sweep and tidy round after lunch and that should do. I took DD to the park this morning instead of stressing about cleaning skirting boards/fronts of cupboards etc. grin much more fun!

I hope everyone has a great weekend smile

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH Dh has mad me really mad!!!

5pm i send him a text to tell him i'm making shepherds pie and we have run out of potatoes. He texts me back saying he will get some on way home. 6.30 i ring him to ask him where he has got to, only to be told he is still at work. Well, your DD is getting very grumpy because she wants her dinner, could you not have mentioned that you were going to be late home, and i would have got the potatoes myself or just given her something else. His reply was, well, you know i was going to be late. If i knew you would be late i wouldn't have fecking asked you to get the sodding potatoes!!!!! angry

It may seem very small and insignificant, but i have had a day of doing stuff for everyone. Tidying the house because FIL is coming this weekend, trying to organise my Aunt so she can go racing tonight, organising with my sis and grandma about lunch next week and obviously looking after DD all day, trying to get dinner on the table before 8pm and making sure everyone has clean clothes etc. I generally don't mind but today it has got me wanting to throw the bloody shepherds pie (minus the potatoe) against the fecking wall. He was out last night (he goes out one night every week) i don't ever go out without DH or DD, and tonight i feel like i just want to go out and get very drunk but i have no bloody friends anymore

Hi, we are heading off now in a while to see the baby! I cant wait, they have called him James
Hi everyone just ironed 3 baskets of washing, although pile dosen't look any smallersad

Ladygooga we got a kitten that dh rescued from a bin lorry,

AND do you want to hear an amazing story, the other night dh went to work, and he was on site for 2 hours, when he went to leave he stopped to say hello to the security gaurd, (sometimes he drives on), and the gaurd said a wee kitten has just fell out of your wheel,
AND it was our kitten, we think he must have been in the back of the van got out when dh was working then somehow climbed up under the wheel arch and then when dh drove off he fell out!
dh couldn't believe it he was really studying him to make sure it was ours,
So again he was really LUCKY, perfect name for him, I'm wondering how many lives he has left now?
(I thought it was amazing anyway) he's on my profile!

Alice Enjoy your visit

CC Congratulations, Baby Beths Christening is next week and dh is her Godfather also so we are all excited too!

JKS If you haven't read Patricia Cornwall's Kay Scarpetta Series I would highly recommend them but start at the beginning, the first 8/9 are brilliant, then she seems to loose her way abit but the last one was more like the start of the series,
I lent the first one to my neighbour at my old house and when her and her partner split up she took it with her and I haven't rplaced it yet, that was years ago!
The first one is called Post Mortem

Right I got a basket and a bit ironed last night

My friend is coming at 10, and i have to tidy up all the toys and hoover if i get time. There is no point putting toys away until the last minute as Daisy just gets them all out again. I have hidden the crayons though as she has got a bit carried away with them recently grin

ali glad you had a good day smile

plum I like Jodie Picoult books too. I am re-reading Marly and Me, but i forgot how emotional it is blush

Evening slatterns! Thank you for all the Happy Birthdays We have had a lovely day here with the grandparents, the cake I made was a success and DS behaved beautifully and showed off all his new skills wink

WME - welcome back! I had been wondering if you were going to return to us Hope you haven't got the dreaded pig flu!

FAQ - <<waves>> see you around the board. Make sure to point anyone who has inability to do housework consistantly in our direction grin

No list today, but all the clearing up is done from the party, I've hoovered, mopped the floor AND put a wash on! shock I must try housework after I've had 3 glasses of champagne more often grin
I find Iread quite light hearted books ever since I had the dcs, although I do have the whole Kay Scarpetta series(murder/thriller/CSI type)

I loved reading and school work when I was young, dd1 is the same, its good to do as it means I can gauge how they should be doing in school especially now that alot of children have left our little school sad,
I need to keep on top of things to make sure my dcs are still getting the most from it
All of that reading is so good - well done you and your dc

I'm plowing through the last of 6 books in a sci-fi series by stephen donaldson - thomas covenant - some of the 6 have been brill, some awful. i'll be pleased to finish now tbh. it's a library book and i've renewed it 4 times, as well as going overdue once!
have lots of books in my To Read pile from parents & PIL, whole variety, i read most things.
Off now to do it
we just read throught some library books

actually 1 for dd2
A chapter of Ben10 for ds
and 2 chapters of The folk from the Faraway Tree for dd2

Now they are all in bed dd1 reading a different novel
got ds a couple of books just above his reading level at school so he is attempting them now in bed and managing quite well,
makes me feel sad that he is growing up but of course pleased

I'm going to go set up the ironing board now

What book are you reading?, I've finally finished the Cathy Kelly book that seemed to take me anage to finish, and moved on to one called Vanishing Act by Jodi Picoult(she wrote My sisters Keeper) it seems good so far.
Plum - how's that washing going?!

Thurs:
- boys bath & bed DONE (well Dh did tbh!)
- put away washing DONE
- new load of washing on DONE & next load ready, where does it all come from?????!
- maybe other things if poss; contact alarm company (although i have got it working) and handyman no again!

- buy some cheap photo albums
- find correct sized refills for filofax pen BuyNewPen!

- finish making drawers for new bed (handyman?!)
- sort alarm
stray way in that sentencegrin
JKS had a feeling it would come today, so glad I didn't buy the test, I hate buying one when its way just to put my mind at ease, much prefer buying one when you really think its going to say positive!

Dinner done
dinner mess cleared up done
pots & roasting tray done
dog & cat fed done

I really am going to tackle the clean washing instead of flopping on the settee when dcs are in bed

off now to play top trumps with dd1

Thurs:

All I have left on my list is
possibly mop kitchen floor
dry remaing clothes doing
sort at least 2 basket of clean washing putting off

At the minute I am making a roast chicken dinner so hopefully I will still have the energy to tackle washing after

Although mission is to always do all dinner dishes straight after dinner [haha]

Oh and AF is here so I'm glad I didn't buy a test yesterday!
Thanks alice I do have a basket, I take it upstairs in the evening and then collect all the things that need to come down in the morning, cups etc and then keep it on the bottom of the stair and put things that need to go up in it. I like the pretend to be a cleaner idea, I will try that one tomorrow because I have just lost the will today!!

I can't be arsed to do dinner either which is really lazy of me because DH cooked it yeaterday and on tuesday we went out for a meal. I have just got the lazy feeling this week grin

Right off the feed the gang with something simple that goes straight from freezer to oven smile
LOL i was being pathetic!

Thurs:
- tea

- finish making drawers for new bed (handyman?!)
- sort alarm
- sort Flash on laptop DONE Yey for MN!
Peppa I found the easiest thing was to have computer/tv off (didn't have a choice really) and do one item at a time eg. all the crayons, all the bricks, all the cuddly toys. Go round with a basket picking up stray items of clothing and put a pile of stuff to go upstairs onto the stairs and you are half way there. I have just got some good advice from another MNetter who said that you should pretend that you are a cleaner cleaning your house. I thought that was quite good.

I really have got quite a lot to do but i am completely shattered! I thought it would be a good idea to muck the horses out this morning and have DD 'helping' me hmm so she got a bit of fresh air and exercise. ALI, Happy Birthday to your DS, I nomally spennd the last week of June in depression because of the 3 birthdays here. DD3 is not until Feb. Having a very lazy morning here, I have hung out one line of washing and waiting for another to finish. Need to dress DD3, then I am going to head downtown, might post a list later
Ali I can remember my mum doing that too and yes I do rant about all the tidying too.

Happy birthday to your DS, I always get a little emotional on DCs birthdays, I think the first can be the worst, I have got DS1 going into his teens, DS2 going into double figures (10) and DS3 turning 1 all inbetween early sept and late oct. I am going to be an emotional wreck.

JKS Whenever I try to sort out the toys, whatever I try to donate becomes my DCs favourite hmm

MM envy at you not needing to do alot, grin

clairey I don't mind really, although I quite like PBMs idea of peppa, I was thinking pig, but being called a pig all the time might get to me eventually grin

Mornin'

Haven't bothered with lists the past 2 days as have done nothing but the basics, not sure I'm going to accomplish much more today tbh grin (period sad).

MM poor you, is medical advice never or just not yet?

JKS a friend with a baby dd's age recently told me that she used to hate seeing me and dd when they were babies/1 year olds because dd was doing stuff months ahead but they are exactly the same now they are 3. Hopefully now your ds2 is diagnosed and on medication he'll be awake more and have more time to learn stuff. Although they do say that sleep is when they process everything so just think of all that assimilated information he must have in his head just waiting to come out!

Ithink (how do you want us to abbreviate you btw?) we have the same. I had a massive clear out before Christmas and then ds' birthday presents and the christmas stuff all had a home. Then one of my friends and one of my cousins decided to hand on all the stuff that they had cleared out so I had a houseful again.

Mothers who would have them, mine was up for tests last week and was told that she had to take her tablets (or risk having a major stroke) and go to day care but she is doing neither. Mam tells everybody different things, telling everyone what she thinks they want to hear!! Even told a friend of hers that she is going for an operation this week and there is no talk of it, she needs to go back for a review in Oct but nothig else. There was talk of me doing carer for her (money might come in handy) but I dont know if i would have the patience! I think as a carer you would need to be doing it out of love and commitment and not for money!!, just feel it is being left to me because I dont work and there is just me and DSIS living near, other siblings live a fair distance away!

Ooh those cakes look good, i might make some this week. Do you think you can freeze them?
Oh dear, what are you going to say?
No don't worry, I knew what you mean't, I got a letter from my mum today, well more of a poem about god making mothers, it was abit hypocritical, she will probably ring later to see what I thought of it!
Plum i just re-read my post, and realise that it may have come across wrong (yet another badly worded post today blush) I meant that the people who think families should stick together regardless have completely got it wrong, and that it is all bollocks. I think if you are that worried about sticking together as a family, you shouldn't do things that can hurt the other members. (iyswim?) Like your dad and bro not understanding why there isn't a relationship between you, but they are the ones that have put all the strain on. Does that make more sense? Or should i just get back to my hoovering? grin
I hope your head is feeling better. It is terribly close here weatherwise, so it's not surprising if anyone gets a migraine.

Just had lunch and a wee sit down - watching jeremy kyle blush

I was sawing a cardboard box up for recycling using a bread knife - so theraputic
You can choose your friends but not your family, unfortunately.
CWWM here's a hug, sit and relax and cuddle lola, get some of the dcs to tidy up!
I'm going to bed have a migraine think AF is its way(would need to be, its getting later every month!), hopefully get up and make my buns and get the washing sorted
Plum i found the thread theraputic. It is difficult with families because generally you are thrown together with a random bunch of people, and if you weren't related you wouldn't even give them the time of day, but because you are 'family' you are supposed to agree with all their bad deciscions and stick up for them. All a load of bollocks i'm afraid.

Cwwm It sounds tough sad
I always find the best place to start is to put a load of washing on, do the washing up and empty the bins. Even if you don't do anymore, that will keep you ticking over. I'm about all afternoon if you need some support smile

CWWM Dont't be sorry for moaning we all need a good moan now and again, I have had many a day where I feel like screaming because the house is a tip and I don't know where the hell to start.

Well I have tried to do some clutter clearing but when ever I try to bin or donate something someone decides they would quite like to keep it, Grr.... My DH has decided he would like to keep the box of videos with films recored off the TV on 'just in case' Why the hell would we watch them now, we haven't even looked in the box for over 2 years. angry Well they can go to his garage and stay there!!!

Happy anniversary Peppapig
Morning all

Its raining here and there is a sun shining on my google weather thingy hmm

JKS yeap mn recipe, pineapple banana and pecan buns they are yum! might make them today, did paperwork instead last night!

Alice I vented on that yesterday too, funny I was thinking of you when I did it, I was thinking you would think your family are not too bad if you knew half the things my brother says and does!
It really would shock you all, and I have got to the point that I just sit on the phone and listen, what are you supposed to say when he tells you he called the mother of his daughter a whore infront of her, actually he said he shouted whore and lots of other names sad sad,
I can just picture him, he has such a bad temper, of course I told him that he shouldn't have done it but of course he just gets aggressive with me then and my family wonder why I have no time for them???? sad angry
Thats why I don't visit my poor niece anymore as I can't defend his behaviour and his ex would just cast up to him that his sister thinks he's an asshole as well!

Sorry rant over(should have used chat thread!)

right have had shower
dcs washed and dressed

JKS Yeah the last time they came she was only here for about 2 mins so I don't know why I'm bothering really, I suppose I think that if it at least looks outwardly clean and tidy then they are more likely to just glance around without looking deeper!

It's not too bad though...Just need to go around with a duster and some windolene and hoover really (and not waste another hour on mn blush)
Jenny - i hate that when you feel you can't cross much off!

It wouldn't be so bad if I kept on top of things like putting the washing away, cobwebs, cleaning mirrors etc and kept my understairs cupboard in a reasonable state but I don't do them til they are really bad blush (that's why I am on slattern not flylady I suppose!)

Sorry Alice I won't be joining you on the washing mission I'm actually on top of it for once smile. My mission this week is clear the hoards of clutter in my house.

Right, I;m off to tackle the bombsite of a kitchen, as it's having a revamp and lots of DIY is in progress in it I have lost my motivation to keep it clean and tidy, but I really need to do something about it before environmental health get called in grin. I'm only joking it's not that bad YET!!!

Alice - I am on that mission too with the washing. I usually avoid the tumble dryer but all this rain is just making it so hard. I am usually good at doing the washing (although not good at getting it put away!) But we have 2 in washable nappies, which is one wash load a day and when it is raining all the time - the airer is constantly full and even with washing hanging everywhere, we run out of space to hang it! So going to hang as much as possible today, but use the dryer too so I can have the washing machine constantly on today.

In fact, today I have woken up in a real enthusiastic mood, so going to get on with it before that fades away! DD1 is still in bed but can hear her waking up!

- Have Breakfast with DD1
- Put DD2 down for morning nap - to do after this post
- Tidy living room
- Tidy hallway
- Tidy back room
- Do washing (first load in now)
- Hang washing up
- Put washing in tumble drier
- Put clean washing upstairs
- Change bedsheets on our bed
- Put DDs down for lunch time nap
- Have lunch with DD1
- Wash nappies
- Do flashcards with DD1
- Do mountain of washing up
- Clean kitchen and tidy
- clean and tidy bathroom
- Go to post office
- Get 3-6months clothes out of loft and give 0-3 months clothes away sad
- Wash cat bowls and feed

Quite a long list but can finish it tomoorow or whatever if needed

Off to feed DD2 andd try and get her to have a nap

Thanks PBM I will take a look DD is really into maths atm . Happy birthday to your DH smile.

HMHB ideas to keep you sane always make sure you have lots of stuff out for DS1 while you are BF ..DD seems to want the potty/drink/pens just as I sit down to BF .
Box sets are good too for you when there is nothing on tv in the middle of the night you can catch up on your favourite programmes .
I have also found that Galaxy chocolate seems to be helping to keep me sane wink.
