bythepowerofgreyskull Thu 07-Aug-08 08:55:53

[Smile] Hi EV
why are you down?
anything we can do?

Morning to all

Having a pants day so far, going to the dentist for route canal drilling this afternoon, my digestive system is in a knot and I am trying very very hard not to be a horrible ogre, but my anxiety is getting the better of me.

will hopefully fly more tomorrow.

EustaciaVye Thu 07-Aug-08 08:58:59

Thanks Greyskull. I'll be fine. Just a bit overhwelmed by everything, not that school holidays help. Hope dental treatment goes well.

Off to get DD2 dressed. DD1 has picked out her clothes for her

RubyRioja Thu 07-Aug-08 09:00:42

Hi all
DId loads yesterday and wa not much on MN. Maybe there is a connection grin
Need to shop and visit auntie today.
Hope dental work goes OK and that day flows nicely for you EV

Simply Thu 07-Aug-08 09:04:22

Hello to all. There are some new names on Wednesday's thread which I've skimmmed through and I'm waiting to spot some old regulars (sorry if that sounds wrong). My au pair went home last month so I can now come on the pc in the day without setting a bad example! Having said that, I'm still in my pjs so will get showered and dressed and then come back with a to do list.

Before I go, thanks for the thread EV and I'm sorry you're feeling fed up. Good luck with sorting out the spare room. I've got to get ours ready for our next ap due at the end of the month.

btpogs Good luck for this afternoon. I get that way with my digestive system due to feelings of anxiety, too. Not nice, is it?

EustaciaVye Thu 07-Aug-08 09:10:06

Simply, we do know each other, in case you dont recognise my name

grouchyoscar Thu 07-Aug-08 09:34:12

Morning Folks

Simply good to see you again

EV Thanks for the thread. I'm feeling q fed up too so sympathies to you

Greyskull Ouch at the teeth. Good luck at the dentist's

Hi to RR and waves to all who follow

Got to dash MIL here Byeeeeee

BiancaCastafiore Thu 07-Aug-08 09:40:13

Morning all

Simply hello Good to see you again.

EV, enjoy your cuppa with dh this morning, hope the fed up feelings pass. We're feeling house bound already this morning cos it's pouring atm so I am pretty grumpy and low too.
Skull good luck with the dentist, it's one of my anxiety triggers too so I know how you feel x x

We have no plans what-so-ever for today. The house is a state so what I really need is for someone to come and take the kids away for a couple of hours so I can Get On With Things. Not going to happen though. I think I'll ring round and see who we can find to come and play so the kids are at least entertained while I try to make some progress with all the picking up/putting away/washing/ironing/cleaning/hoovering/mopping which is long over-due!

Back later x

TheMadHouse Thu 07-Aug-08 09:52:03

Morning all, althoug it feels like somewhere in the middle of the night.

A house alarm was going off at 4am and then DS1 was up 30 mins later as he wet the bed and he was awake.

So Morning routine done
Half the bedding in the washer - it went on the duvet again
I will have to use the dryer as it is peeing down again

To Do

Dry bedding
Make bed
Ring friend back

EV I know what you mean with two little ones, it gets a bit constant, espeically as the toddler groups are not on to keep them entertained. I hope you feel better after meeting DH

DH was supposed to be working from near home this week, but has had to go to a client 60 miles away today adn tomorrow, so no chance of early homes sad Although I know it pays the bills

Mog37 Thu 07-Aug-08 10:05:42

Morning all

Lazy morning this morning - not even started routines yet as am absolutely exhausted. Still, plodding along with babysteps (now on Day 27) and the house is finally starting to look like less of a health and safety issue.

Put out rubbish & recycling box
Washing in washer

Essential to do list (as people coming for dinner tonight - thankfully I am not cooking!):
Morning routine
Clean bathroom
Mop kitchen floor

Would like to do list:
Post office to pick up parcel that was not delivered yesterday (even though I was in all day?)
Make list of things needed for BBQ (weather permitting) on Saturday
Start making lists of what I need to get/sort out/pack for holiday in 3 weeks (yay! grin )

Ok, had better start with some of it!

Simply Thu 07-Aug-08 10:44:51

Thanks for the welcome. Good to see some posters I used to chat to. smile

Right. I'm showered and dressed. Here's a list to keep me focused.

Showered and dressed
d/w on
w/m on
two beds stripped

To do:-
walk the dog
unload the d/w
put another load in the w/m
do the hand washing up
make a shopping list and see if I have to go shopping or if we can survive until tomorrow or Saturday

That'll do for now! Time for a cup of tea and toast.

grouchyoscar Thu 07-Aug-08 11:08:36

Hello again

Done my stuff down in the next town. Got Ed a xmas pressy already (too cheap to leave) and a couple of bits for next week.

Ed has gone to play at a friend's house over the road so I am in a kidless house. Thing is I have no gumption to do anything hmm and there's tons I could do. What am I like

Simply Thu 07-Aug-08 11:20:54

Hey grouchy I'm still here. I did (in my defence) get up from the chair to put my cup and plate in the d/w, remembered I needed to unload it first, then remembered that I've thought a hundred times to nosy on an estate agents website for a property (I'm not being snobby, it isn't a house but a smallholding) which is for sale near here so I've been doing that for a good 10 mins. The verdict is:- expensive, a nice few acres, the house needs a lot of work and more importantly, I'm sure dh wouldn't want to move! about we both agree to go and do something and then report back at noon to see how the other has got on? I'll go and unload the d/w first and do the washing up and then I'll check to see if you've posted.

BiancaCastafiore Thu 07-Aug-08 11:37:30

Grouchy I think sometimes it's Very Important when you have a childfree house to just sit and do nothing grin

Despite our best efforts, dd hasn't been able to find a friend who is willing or able to come and play this afternoon Ds is off to a friends hosue after lunch so dd and I have decided to go to a local pool which has a floatorama session as a treat

We are currently all lazing around watching Shrek 2 (we've already watched Shrek 1 this morningblushgrin)

I have folded a pile of washing while watching the films so must earn FLY points for thatgrin

Simply Thu 07-Aug-08 12:10:41

I hope your day goes well despite the setbacks BC. smile

How're you go?

Showered and dressed
d/w on
w/m on
two beds stripped
unload the d/w
do the hand washing up
try on the two tops that came in the post today. One to return, one to keep if I can get used to the lime green colour!

To do:-
walk the dog
put another load in the w/m
write a shopping list
write a packing list for our hols in about 10 days

grouchyoscar Thu 07-Aug-08 12:16:58

Hi Simply

I've tried checking a bank account online and I'd forgotten my password and we couldn't reset it and Ed came back and Ed went again and and and

I'm having a wonky donkey type of day. I feel spaced out and weird. Ho-hum

Simply Thu 07-Aug-08 12:33:29

I find that it's best for me to just go with it when it's a wonky donkey type of day. I plod along quietly with low expectations and by the end of the day it seems to have gone a bit better than it started out. recap, I'll go with BC's suggestion for you to just sit and do nothing - if that's what takes your fancy. If it's any consolation, I'm pretty awful with passwords and dh does all my online banking for me. Tut, tut! smile

rowingboat Thu 07-Aug-08 13:02:43

Hi everybody
Eustacia I hope you pick up soon. Hopefully, getting out for a cuppa will alleviate the feelings. I can't remember if you said you went to the library this week, but I find going there with LO gives me a bit of break and there are usually other parents in a similar holiday situation to talk to, if you feel so inclined.
Just a thought. smile
TMH I know how you feel with the no sleep. This cold has become a very annoying cough and I just couldn't get to sleep - ended up getting up again about 5AM and watching the Olympics channels. [eyes drooping emoticon]
Grouchy I phoned the helpline for my credit card and still can't get into my account after 20 minutes on the, very bad, line. The lady did tell me to have a good day three or four times, though. grin

This morning finally did
S&S bathroom done
5 minute room rescue - kitchen
wipe cupboards and fridge 10 mins done
hotspots 6 mins done
phone GP done
Phone credit card hotline - half done
vits and breakfast done
dressed er yes, wearing 'indoor' clothes

Afternoon routine
lifeplan 15 minutes
Dinner plan 10 mins
Continue with tiles aim to do 5 tiles

Evening routine hotspots,
try to sort out the big hash I have made of DP's short - waistband all wonky. shock
Read something for 15 minutes
No declutter today

rowingboat Thu 07-Aug-08 13:13:15

Oh and hang up/sort laundry 10 mins
it's like a chinese laundry here with all the rain. shock

lucysmam Thu 07-Aug-08 13:29:42

good afternoon all, just a quick hello as I'm super busy today. New fridge and cooker arrived a couple of hours ago but they didn't fit the cooker!!! Nightmare, as if I know what I'm doing with electrical type stuff and oh isn't much better so fil going to do it tomorrow. Quite gutted as I was going to use it to make some shortbread while oh at footy this evening and a fried brekky for dinner!

Also washing lots of towels that were sat under old fridge freezer in living room last night, they're disgusting and I didn't think it would be too bad as the freezer part wasn't frozen but never mind.

Also, laying last bits of new floor while oh in town with lo again (hope he's not after a day off!!)

Bathroom needs a good clean so do that in a mo and EVERY pot, cup, mug, bowl, plate we own needs washing after oh had most of them storing things last night so he didn't lose them.

EV hope you're feeling ok again soon & had a nice cuppa with dh

rowing you sound like a busy bee today!!
Simply hello <waves>

Right, off to put down my last few floor tiles, self adhesive tiles are the way to go for sure!! soooooo easy to do with no help from oh apart from starting me off yesterday. ttfn xx

rowingboat Thu 07-Aug-08 13:44:39

lucys don't get desperate for shortbread and fit the cooker yourself! But if you do be and remember to wear rubber gloves and wellies. shock
Defrosting the freezer - poo isn't it!
I'll think of you when I'm cutting my tiles. grin

grouchyoscar Thu 07-Aug-08 14:15:35

I'm taking advice and just going with the Wonky day

I've run and emptied the DW and put away, swept up compost round the porch, picked up after Ed and tidied his toys away and put a load in the WM

It's odd Ed not being here. He's having fun on the estate so I'll leave him to it

grouchyoscar Thu 07-Aug-08 14:18:05

Oh and the bank accounts are sorted now grin

Simply Thu 07-Aug-08 14:30:50

Oh, you're doing well go. I've just read rowingboat's and lucysmam's posts and you two are, too!

Newly done:-
put another load in the w/m and it is now on the w/line too
hoover some of the downstairs

To do:-
walk the dog
write a shopping list
write a packing list for our hols
make a doc's appointment

I enjoy cutting the grass and the dog likes helping me so I think we'll do that now that I've finished my late lunch. See you later!

TheMadHouse Thu 07-Aug-08 14:48:02

Afternoon all

I am really tired today and thing just are not going right here.

I popped the washer on before I went shopping, but it didnt start for some reason. So hve done it again

Made DS1's Bed
Changed our bed (still to wash)
Put shopping away
Lost my temper in aldi

Take some headache tablets
More washing and drying
Empty car boot of chairs and buggy (will be needed theextra seats tomorrow)

lucysmam Thu 07-Aug-08 14:49:11

rowing not even going to attempt cooker myself!! no worries there, I aint a clue how to change a fuse never mind anything else electrical or vaguely complicated. And yes, defrosting freezer is not a nice job!

Simply I envy you having grass to cut, I have a concrete yard that's filled with old bits of kitchen at the mo so not very pleasant!

Well, tiles all done so having a break before seeing where stuff will fit in my kitchen to see if I can create the illusion of more space.

And towels need to go on the line so will do that while kettle boils I think. bbl ladies xx

grouchyoscar Thu 07-Aug-08 15:11:13

TMH I'm having that sort of day too. ho hum

TheMadHouse Thu 07-Aug-08 15:40:13

GO Sometimes you just get up like it dont you.

DS1 is still on the PC on Nick Jnr
DS2 is watching Wiggles

I have hung out the duvet and put another load in the washer
I have put away the ironing I did yesterday
Took tablets

Better still DH has rang to say he has finnished at his clients so is on his way home, so not in as late as previously planned. yippee

RubyRioja Thu 07-Aug-08 16:43:33

Have been out all day visiting - v pleasant, but i need to make house presentable as we have guests tomorrow.

RR winds herself up and wants to know what Ed's xmas gift isgrin

Am planning to start my Xmas countdown again next month if anyone interested.

rowingboat Thu 07-Aug-08 16:55:40

Simply grass to cut, that must mean you can go outside without getting rained on, how nice. I hope your dog helps with the grass cutting. grin
TMH you are keeping busy. What happened at Aldi? I hope the police weren't involved. wink
Lucys I think your yard sounds very interesting, don't be so quick to dismiss lumps of kitchen in garden design, sounds very modern. grin
Grouchy well done with the bank account, still have to face mine. shock

tiling - have only cut two tiles and one is wrong! Aaargh! This has taken over an hour. I wonder if anyone would notice if I left the floor bare? [thoughtful face]

Am making dins though, but think the life plan will have to wait until later.

lucysmam Thu 07-Aug-08 17:08:15

rowing I'd not thought about it that way <scuttles off to make kitchen sink into water feature>

sounds like quite a few of you are having funny kind of days, hope it doesn't last!!

I think self adhesive vinyl tiles are the way to go rowingboat!! seriously, ours is done after much umm-ing and aaah-ing about them and they look brill, if i do say so myself!

grouchy I'm not good with online banking either, glad it's not just me!
Ruby xmas countdown??? already!?

mad I think relax should be at the top of your list, you always seem to be doing loads of stuff all day!

My lo has just fallen asleep after an hour of playing in her bedroom while we child-proofed everything in the kitchen and I can't decide if it would be a bit mean to wake her up now to put her back to bed at 7pm but if not it might mean getting up at 5am so am a bit stuck for what to do! She's knackered so would probably sleep through but if not it means a super-duper early morning!

Am doing nothing this evening, oh at footy so plan to watch the f word that he downloaded for me last week and write a shopping list to take to asda with mil tomorrow and thats it

EustaciaVye Thu 07-Aug-08 17:37:32

ooh yes, I'm in for the xmas countdown grin

I have actually bought a few bits in the summer sales for dd's friends...

TheMadHouse Thu 07-Aug-08 17:54:36

Evening all

Lucys I like to keep busy - I am not a relax type of person, plus the boys have so much energy and need to burn it off.

GO What did you buy

Ruby Ooh yes Christmas countdown I needed it last year.

I have already bought the playmobil carry and go playhouse from tesco direct for DS1 for £12.50 and popped it away.

Final load of washing is hung out
Back of car is emptied and extra seats up
Dinner for boys done
Veg has been watered
Books returned to next door

DH is doing bedtime routine with them at the moment

Rowing I want to see the floor when all done it seems a momoth task

biglips Thu 07-Aug-08 17:59:47

hi all!

been out all morning with DD which i worn her out! grin (and myself)

Today just made cakes with DD but yesterday i did alot of housecleaning so i thought ill have a break today. The weather was gorgeous today...let hope its the same as tmrw!

grouchyoscar Thu 07-Aug-08 18:09:05

Hello again

Ed still playing out with the estate kids, they are in our garden now. Well they're having fun

DH is going to do tea

TMH I got him the lego coastguard set from the City range cos it was 1/2 price. It probably will be half price all the time but at least it's a start.

Still feeling rather odd. Must just be one of those days. AF is due for a visit so I'll put it down to that

RubyRioja Thu 07-Aug-08 18:13:33

Thanks gROUCHY - I need to know these things grin sounds fab

lucysmam Thu 07-Aug-08 18:43:02

Ruby I am curious, what does your xmas countdown involve?? Am never organised for it really so if it's designed to be helpful then I'm in.

Mad how about something relaxing with the kids (don't ask me what I'm not entirely sure you can relax with kids around!) but just a thought

rowingboat am not overly convinced about the kitchen sink as a water feature but the paddling pool that's been out there still filled up for about 2 weeks is starting to look like a goldfish pond or something similar, think it ought to be cleaned out at some point soon!

I'm bored already, lo woke up for a clean nappy and drink then went straight back to sleep at 5:45pm and oh now out at footy til half 8 or so so don't know what to do since I've already watched f word and done shopping list

EustaciaVye Thu 07-Aug-08 18:46:44

<<EV stamps foot>>

Why didnt I see the playmobil takealong house at 1/2 price.

DD1 helped me in an amazing way this afternoon and tidied up the entire ground floor of our house. She has since pulled out her my little ponies, toy village, litle railway track.

TheMadHouse Thu 07-Aug-08 18:51:14

EV Sorry, I will in future let you know when I see bargains grin I got 2 one for my 3 year old neice too.

Bewilderbeast Thu 07-Aug-08 19:51:26

Evening All*

yes I do need nagging. Thought I'd lost a few more pounds this week but apparently my scales were playing tricks

off to the optician tomorrow, having serious vision problems and pain in one eye - we can thank ds for this one as he deliberately kicked me in the (open) eye at the weekend.

done (before and after work included and not in any time order so may seem a bit odd)
bed made
sink wiped
wm loaded and on
dw unloaded reloaded and on
living room tidied
sofa plumped and cushions rotated
kitchen surfaces cleaned
bin emptied
ds taken to nursery
ds collected from granny's

just about to make tea for dp and I - fajitas tonight, yum
dp has just informed me that I have to nip to tescos for salad and wine, bummocks

Ho hum tescos hell here I come

RubyRioja Thu 07-Aug-08 19:55:45

countdown starts with academic year and begins with clearing out toys etc, ebaying to raise funds, booking panto tickets, makign cards ith dcs, before shopping for something each week. Not too anal - honest!

lucysmam Thu 07-Aug-08 20:13:59

count me in in that case ruby

Well the heavens have opened here and it looks like rainy season is set for some time! Still red hot though n i thought a good thunder storm cleared the air usually.

I'm still bored, so bored I'm watching 'stenders and wandering round looking for stuff to do downstairs so i dont wake lo up as she's restless

bythepowerofgreyskull Thu 07-Aug-08 20:36:18

who told me it qwouldn't be too bad

2 babies no pain relief... this is horrid/worse
