Here we go again- a new month to whip our houses into shape!

If you're suffering from CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) and STUFF (something that undermines family fun) then you need Flylady.

Don't sign up for emails on the Flylady website as you'll be inundated. Everything you need to know will be posted in the thread on a daily basis.

Depending on the stage you're at with FL you'll be:

1. Starting or repeating FL's babysteps.

2. Repeating babysteps + decluttering for 15 minutes per day in current zone.

3. Reinforce babysteps + daily missions if you'vefinished decluttering.

4.Number 3 and detailed cleaning anyone here yet??!

Bear in mind:

1. You're never behind!

2. No perfectionism allowed.

3. Your house did not get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy overnight.

Some of the fledglings have been chatting and flying on MN for 10 years. I still think of myself as a newbie sometimes (even though I've been here for 2+ years!). Everyone's welcome! Old timers, newbies and lurkers alike, come and share your ta das, to dos and a whole lot more smile

Sorry for lack of OP links - am posting on the laptop that time forgot and am just keeping my fx that the OP posts!

Will be back on August 31st (pretty late probably!) with links for the 1st September.

Toffee I'd go through and do it today, but then the dcs would be poking at the filler and what's the point then, eh? hmm I'll have to wait until next week and do it then.

Thanks Engels and thanks Toffee for the last couple of months. I've been trying to follow the last thread but the internet is poor here and struggling with loading bigger threads. Home on Sunday with lots to do for back to school and work.

ToffeeWhirl Thu 28-Aug-14 12:17:55

Engels - many thanks for starting the new thread <hands over thread leader's golden duster>.

Yes, good idea to wait until they're back at school, Alice.

WhoKnows - hope you're having a good holiday.

Hi Everyone - marking place ready for Monday. Have started as I mean to go on by emailing a professional organiser last week for an hour or two proper advice and help while DH is away working next week.

CarpeJugulum Thu 28-Aug-14 13:41:02

Oooh! New thread, so that I can start again. Again. blush

Thanks Engels and Toffee for last month even if I didn't stop in very often.

ToffeeWhirl Thu 28-Aug-14 14:19:17

Soot - oooh, a professional organiser! That's what I need. Please come back and tell us what advice he/she gives you.

Sootball Thu 28-Aug-14 19:25:34

Toffee it's not cheap, about £40 ph but I'm beyond drowning in stuff, we have so many possessions and I just need some strict advice on how to finish the decluttering. We've made a huge amount of progress since we moved two years ago but there are still boxes being stashed away, and our lounge (we usually use the big kitchen or playroom) has become a total dumping ground.

It doesn't help that we have two huge mountain buggies (a single and a double), which seems crazy but we use them daily cos of dd1. Add to that a ludicrous amount of toys.

CarpeJugulum Thu 28-Aug-14 20:02:46

I'd love to declutter more than I have just now; but despite FlyLady's instruction for it being loved or being useful, she is strangely quiet on the "can't get rid of it as it will cause a family war" items. <sigh>

LittleMissGiggles7 Thu 28-Aug-14 20:38:21

Ooh can I join in. Single parent to 3dc and starting my degree in 2 weeks. Want to get super organised, I'm in the middle of decluttering the house and trying to get organised for 3dc going back to school next week. Would love to follow the thread to give me the kick up the bum I might need.

Marking place (I will do better this month)

Fragglewump Thu 28-Aug-14 22:23:23

I'm in - have made good progress but pesky kids seems to have stopped this in its tracks by being here all day everyday for a loooong time. Roll on next week!

Have just won a bundle of clothes for dd1, so my mission for Saturday morning is to clear out ALL her clothes ans get things either sent to charity or put away for Dd2.

feetheart Thu 28-Aug-14 23:57:50

Marking place too. I might even manage to put in an appearance in Sept blush
I have been lurking and reading but not posting. Hopefully September will be the new January smile

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore Fri 29-Aug-14 08:17:23

ta da
-usual morning routine, with school routine starting to be incorporated to get dcs ready for imminent start of school grin
-tidied up living room
-tidied up dining room

to do
-make list of things to do this coming week to catch up when dcs are back in school
-reorganise recipe binder
-put away groceries after delivery today
-pick up prescriptions and take to chemist
-more decluttering in dining room

There's more, but that's a start anyway....

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore Fri 29-Aug-14 08:19:43

Oh, yes, once school starts I can get RID of a bunch of things. I have a bag of shredding to go to the tip. A bag of clothing to take to the school's nursery. A bag of toys to go to the charity shop. And I think today I may put together a bag of books to take to the charity shop as well. (I HATE getting rid of books, but even though I firmly believe there's no such thing as too many books, I don't have room for them all!)

What I NEED is to win the lottery and buy a massive house with a room that I can turn into a library. grin There's my next goal.....

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore Fri 29-Aug-14 10:09:22

Wow. That was ridiculously easy. Short form filled out at chemist. They will now pick up all repeat prescriptions, all I have to do is ring them when I do the refill online. Brilliant. One less thing I have to deal with. smile

Washing ds2's favourite stuffed toy right now. It's the first time he's willingly handed it over to be washed. <sniffle> Usually I have to dig the spare (secret) one in the cupboard out and switch them out, washing the dirty one when he's in school and doesn't know about it. grin

Marking place. It has been a few months since I've made an appearance on this thread, but I badly need to come back!

This week I have been on annual leave and have done loads of decluttering. I have also deep cleaned the bathroom and kitchen. Now I am actually feeling almost on top of things for once - but I need to get back into the routine to keep it that way!

Both DH and I work FT. We have 3 DC aged 8, 10 and almost 12 who have a list of after school activities as long as your arm. Housework seems to always be done half-heartedly and in a rush. But I hate living in a pig sty.

Sootball Fri 29-Aug-14 23:44:35

I updated August thread.

Extremely confused! But busy. Very very busy.

elliepac Sat 30-Aug-14 08:35:30

I am in. Have spent most of August up at the caravan with crappy internet. Back to work next week and back to routine at the beginning my 5th year on this thread!!!

Just sorted out the shoe rack in the hallway. Who knew that 3 DC could (a) own so many shoes and (b) grow out of them all so quickly? 2 carrier bags full of shoes removed and waiting to be taken to the recycling bank, shiny new shoes for the new term arranged tidily on the shoe rack in their place.

It won't last...

MercuryRising Sat 30-Aug-14 14:19:38

I'm back in. Next week I start my new job and I am determined to be organised at home so I have one less thing to stress about.

I have spent most of the day ironing and still have ridiculous amounts to do sad

But Monday marks the beginning of a new chapter for me and I am feeling determined.

Sootball Sat 30-Aug-14 23:53:15

I'm toying with the idea of abandoning my evenings and heading to bed at 9 but getting up at 5am to get stuff done and have some space to think.
