Where do you store your root veg?

Potatoes in a potato bag in a cupboard, everything else in the fridge. Onions don't seem to hurt my eyes when they've been in the fridge.

EmNetta I didn't know you should keep potatoes and onions separate. Tbh I have never noticed a smell and I keep both mine in a large jute bag. Carrots and other stuff in the bottom of the fridge.

I store mine in the fridge. mainly because we have plenty of fridge space but lack cupboard space! We use the drawers at the bottom. smile

Root veg is stored in a bin meant for glass recycling which lives in the garage, but I do make sure onions are well away from potatoes for longer life.
Friend who keeps veg in fridge recommends the wax liners from cereal boxes to keep veg fresh (I can never remember to use these, but seems a good idea).

I used to keep my potatoes and onions and the like in a small basket in one of the food cupboards but now it smells a bit funky sad and I'm worried it might affect the other dry food. What do you do/have to store veg?
Have also posted this in food section.
That is the big question of my day so far.....Off to get a life now.....blush
