I leave a basin of hot water and stardrops/flash liquid in the sink for a wee while after cooking. The place smells nice and fresh.

I put zoflora in the sink neat, and rinse it out an hour later.

Rest of my house smells like shit though grin

I really don't think you can beat fresh air

If windows are opened daily that's all you need

Citronella (health food shop) in an oil burner is so clean and fresh. Also removes kitchen smells and flies hate it smile

I usually burn a fragranced candle about an hour before I start cooking "smell" foods such as smoked fish, and leave it burning until the end of dinner. Seems to do the trick.

Smells only occur if a place is either dirty or unventilated.

Do you have a really good extractor? Is your kitchen really in need of a deep clean? Has your sofa and other soft furnishings absorbed the smell of cooking?

No Malone Grapefruit and Rosemary room fragrance. Or Heyland and Whittle Grapefruit diffusers.

Did want extract or but too low so have expel air nearby . We have French door as ventilation which we can't always open so I must must clean above cooker more plus ventilate! Plus other good tips - windows been open an hour this am ! smile teens will hate it at weeks d tho ! Will wed to bit hire a carpet cleaner to wash sofa I imagine!

sugar - I have a low roof kitchen (not basement) and I have a wall mounted hood extractor that expels the air straight through the wall not the roof. It was pricey but frankly the whole kitchen filled with steam/smoke before. If you want to go even more high tech you can get extractors that pop up behind your cooker and suck the smoke/steam horizontally straight off the cooker surface.

I suggest you wash down your walls with sugar soap as they will be covered in a film of grease. Also we used to have a smooth modern looking leather sofa in our kitchen which we could wipe and didn't absorb smells.

some bowls of vinegar or bicarbonate of soda dotted around will absorb smells too.

could also shake bicarb or shake'n'vac over sofa then vacuum off after a few hours?

Buy some Little Hotties by Bomb Cosmetics. Just one of these melted in a burner fills the whole house with amazing smell. You need to buy one of those ceramic burners, lots of places sell them for around 8. Hotties cost about 7 for a box full. They are the best smelly thing I've ever bought.

I find oil burners work well

I am a bit clean freak and I always keep my kitchen clean and fresh.Once I found weird lingering odor for which I took out complete trash from kitchen.I than remember, our ventilation professional from Ventis advised me to use steam cleaner whenever such weird smell spread in kitchen.Steam temperature was hot enough to kill the bacteria that cause odor.

I have a couple of neutradol blocks around and about, doesn't make the house smell, but removes bad odours! Wilkinsons is usually the cheapest place go buy them.
