How of do you wash vests?

Sorry ridiculous question but DH and I can't agree. We have 3 DC - 2, 5 and 7 and I am finding the washing overwhelming. I am sick of washing DCs' vests and pyjamas which I reckon can be changed every 3 days but DH says it's underwear and needs changed daily. What do you guys reckon?

DS wears pants under his pyjamas. Therefore pjs are washed every 3 days or so.

Fresh every day, definitely. Unless you run out, then you are allowed to keep fishing them back out of the washing basket until you have time to wash some more. smile

technically they are underwear...but IMO they are very different to pants. for a pre-teenage child I think every 2-3 days is fine to change vests. (Mine wear fresh pants every day, vests 2-3 days, pjs up to 4/5 weariness). obviously if vests or pjs have a spillage or similar we change before that.

Every 2-3 days. 3 DCs and just not enough space in the several laundry baskets!

I agree with your DH, I'm afraid, vests should be washed every day. You can get more days out of pyjamas though.

4/5 weariness, not weariness!

also, remember no one will come and inspect whether your children have freshly washed vests every single day. ;)

WEARINGS <<bangs head off keyboard>>

mine stopped wearing vests at about the age of 4. We get 2 nights out of pj's. They can't take up that much machine space. What big things are you washing too often?

I wear jeans for several days. Towels get washed when they no longer dry between washes and bedding gets washed when needed rather than having a set day. Are there other ways to cut down on your washing?

Pants and socks clean every day.

Vests changed when child bathed or they are dirty (mine don't always wear clothes in the house so spills on vests) or have been very active so may get smelly.

Pyjamas changed when dirty which depends on if they wear them for breakfast or not!

So the answer is not daily, necessarily.

vests every 4 days ish (unless they have been sweaty or they are dirty) PJs, well once a week here (except dd1, who needs 2 x per week, and dd2 who tends to have little accidents and change them herself several times a week)

but mine wear school trousers for most of the week, and school shirts get a second day if they are under a sweater.

They have a bath every 2 days so maybe changing vests then would be a good compromise. We live in chilly Scotland and DS1 wears shorts to school so a best keeps them cosy. It's finding drying space rather than the washing space than I find difficult. Thanks for the comments. Thought I was being a slob smile

Ds and dd wear pjs for two nights. Ds wears his vest twice too but it's only for nights. Dd gets a fresh one every day after bath as she is in nappies

Daily. Daily vest changes, daily pant changes, daily pyjama jchages. daily baths please.

Dd's get clean vests every evening before bed. They are bathed twice a week dd1 has eczema so that is my excuse for less baths. Where dd1 gets new pjs dd2 wears hers 2 or three times. The babys vests are the worst they seem to take forever to dry particularly the envelope neck. 3yo dd's are usually the first thing to dry and even dry quickly when folded.

fresh pants socks and vests daily. pj's changed every 2/3 days but dc have bath each night before bed so they're not dirty
