How often do you/dc change your pyjamas?
I normally change my top every night (although I've been told that's excessive) and my pj bottoms every 3-4 days - bearing in mind I DO wear knickers in bed which I think is relevant.

Also, while we're here, how often do you change your bath towels?
I change about once a week (used once a day).

Bath towels get changed weekly, unless they look like they need washing sooner (happens occasionally). DS' (9mo) towels tend to end up in the wash after each use. Hand towels more regularly, probably twice a week. It's just me, DH and DS and we don't tend to have many people to visit. When family stay for the weekend their towels go straight in the wash after and the hand towels get changed daily or every other day as we usually have 3 extra people (late teens/adults) so it feels more manky to me at that point!

I go through 2 sets of pjs per week typically, I change both bottoms and top every 3-4 days. I also wear underwear in bed. This is based on not getting vomited on of course grin DS' pjs get changed... I have no idea. Probably every day or every other day, as they usually get mucky in one way or another. I just throw DH's stuff in the wash when I change mine so I technically change it for him.

Clean PJ's every day for both me and dc.

Clean towels for each bath. Dc bathed every other day.

Everyone who wears jams changes them nightly. Towels used once or twice then washed.

PJs twice a week. Towels once a week. Bed linen once every three to four weeks, more often in summer. Any more than that and I'd feel I was spending too much time washing. DDs bathed/showered twice a week, sometimes more after swimming or if they want a shower in between. I myself shower daily but sometimes miss out the odd day, but then sometimes twice in a day though, say if I've been to Zumba in the evening.

Pj every other day, bath towels every 3 days.

After each use.

I love these threads, I'm mainly posting to mark place as someone will be along in a minute to tell you you are all disgusting and should change towels, beds and pjs every 15 minutes!

Change my pjs probably twice a week, towels once, and beds every 3-4 weeks coz im lazy

superzero Tue 01-Oct-13 12:48:52

Towels nightwear and bed linen once a week.
Toddler & baby have clean popper vest under pjs daily though.

miffybun73 Tue 01-Oct-13 12:49:31

DH and I don't wear anything in bed so no PJs washing.

DCs usually wear the same PJs a couple of times before washing.

Towels - used twice a day, changed every 2-3 days.

I change pj top every night and bottoms every 3 or 4 nights, I also wear knickers with them! Towels I do once a week, bed linen I do mine every week in summer and every 2 in winter! My DS's bed I do every week because he dribbles a lot in his sleep! confused if I had a house keeper/slave I would have my sheets changed every day nothing is as nice as fresh sheets!

Fifi2406 Tue 01-Oct-13 12:54:02

DS's pj's seem to get changed every day because most of his breakfast ends up squashed into them

littlemisswise Tue 01-Oct-13 12:54:52

Pyjamas and hand towels every day.

Bath towels every 2-3 days.

No wonder my washing machine is always on!

ShoeWhore England Tue 01-Oct-13 17:12:05

Dcs' PJs 2 or 3 times a week.
Towels once a week.

Norudeshitrequired Tue 01-Oct-13 17:16:08

Me and my husband don't wear anything in bed so don't have any adult pjs to wash.
The children change their pjs daily, they don't wear underpants in bed as important to let your genitals breathe a bit at some point during the day / night so they need clean pjs daily.
I change the bedding at least once a week, more if it's summer and we have been hot and sweaty.

me - don't really wear pyjamas, so the ones I have are lounging pants and top really, so, weekly? or whenever i leave them lying around and they get scooped up and washed.

DC - every day if they get to choose. they like a new pair on, for variety you know. But, normally every 2-3 days, or whenever something gets spilled on them.

Towels - every 2-3 days. or, with mine, whenever I go to the gym, as I don't have a gym towel, i just take the one I have been using, then put it in the wash when I get back. No rules though, as they seem to end up in the wash basket more often than they probably need to anyway, never longer than 3 days regardless of intentions. I would prefer it to be weekly, certainly for the children as they have washes in the week, and a bath on Sundays, and random showers through the week, but not regular or often. But, they just end up in the wash anyway. Meh.

Genuine question : if people wear underwear to bed then when do your lady bits have chance to get some air? Being wrapped tightly in underwear all the time isn't good for the ol fanjo.

NomDeClavier Tue 01-Oct-13 17:18:47

Towels twice a week, pjs every couple of days although DH has a clean t-shirt nightly as he reuses his sleep t-shirt to cycle to work and showers there in the morning.

DS gets new pjs if he spills breakfast on them or outpees his nappy and I get new pjs if I leak milk everywhere. And yes I wear both knickers and sleep bra to bed.

Fontofnowt Tue 01-Oct-13 17:19:32

I'm a scruffy sod so I wear my jammies until they pong or have food stains.
Bed sheets weekly in summer and every three days in winter when the heating makes me sweat like a racehorse.

PavlovtheCat Tue 01-Oct-13 17:22:12

nom oh I like that idea about the t-shirt! I am not cycling to work, but hoping in time to run again, so I will do that, on the colder nights when I wear a top to bed.

I just can't do bottoms in bed. Unless I am so drunk I don't remember to take them off. They get all ruffled and it annoys the heck out of me. And pants just ride up my ass crack.

GreenShadow England Tue 01-Oct-13 17:28:29

Partly depends what happens in the morning.

I change my pyjamas weekly because I get up and shower first thing in the morning, so if they are a bit sweaty from yesterday, it doesn't matter.

Towels are roughly weekly, but no real routine.

fussychica England Tue 01-Oct-13 17:33:40

I change pjs twice a week, towels once a week and bedding once a week in summer, once a fortnight in winter.

I think lots of people these days seem to go overboard on the washing front - it's now normal for people to shower at least once a day and washing machines to be on constantly. When I was growing up we didn't have a bathroom or a washing machine so it wasn't possible to be this clean shock. Obviously, I wouldn't want to return to that but it wasn't unusual at the time and we survived.

I do wonder if the level of allergies which abound now are partially due to the obsession we seem to have with cleanliness and all the products we use on our bodies and clothes every day.

JRmumma Tue 01-Oct-13 17:46:03

fussy i agree, when did it become so important to smell of coconuts or the like instead of just normal human smell (not a pongy smell but you know what i mean).

I guess most people just fall into a routine to make sure that it all gets done regularly, rather than the need to do it religiously though. I know that i wash my towels weekly because i use the 'dirty' ones to clean the bathroom so just chuck them in the wash after that. Although id be lying if i said i knew exactly how long it has been since i changed my bed sheets.

duchesse Tue 01-Oct-13 17:49:23

Both about twice a week.

Vivacia Tue 01-Oct-13 19:10:07

I have never thought about this and am very surprised at some of the responses.

Me and partner don't wear anything in bed. The children wear pyjamas which are washed weekly.

Towels get washed weekly since I started hanging them out every morning (they used to stay damp and get smelly very quickly before). Hand towels get changed more frequently, gym/swimming towels tend to get done after one use as I bung them in with the cossies or gym kit.
