I have the foam one that moulds to your body. A year on, theres a perfect imprint of me on the bed permanently! Not sure if thats good or not, but it is extremely comfy

Thanks. I was vaguely thinking about the £100 pocket sprung mattress spending any more will stretch the bank a bit, but don't want the dds to be too uncomfortable. We will definitely try out some mattresses in store, just wanted an idea of whether the mattresses in our budget are ok or disappointing.

I didn't know about the chemicals either, so thanks for the tip!

I think the whole point with IKEA mattresses is that there's a range of soft to hard, according to your preferences. You - with your dds - need to go along and try them out in the shop. In terms of quality, yes the very cheapest one are very thin and uncomfortable, but a single mattress from a hundred quid onwards should be OK. We ended up going top of the range for our double mattress as that simply felt most comfortable for us, though.

Lurking with interest as I bought an Ikea bed last year, but put my old mattress on it, and of course Ikea sizings are a bit different so I have a 2 inch gap all the way round now.

So planning on replacing it with an Ikea one but I haven't a clue which one either!

Ikea mattresses are meant to be good for not admitting lots of nasty chemicals...not your question I know....

Just that really! We are thinking about getting these Ikea bunk beds for our dds, and I think Ikea beds need Ikea mattresses as they're an unusual size. The Ikea mattresses seem to vary in cost massively between £60 and £400, can anyone recommend a mattress that is not going to be really uncomfortable but won't break the bank?
