No bidet here thank the lord.
And would you leave guest towels by the bidet?
Very very few visitors pop in for tea and a bath. casual visitors use the downstairs toilet, which has no bath despite some caling it the bathroom, it has a towel which is changed when someone thinks it is skanky daily. Everyone in the family has a bath towel, which somehow they identify as theirs, although there is no colour coding.
(round here, "tea" implies a cup of, not shepherds pie and angel delight)
Ah, but Mrs Miggins isn't a guest in the sense of staying in the spare room and being issued with towels. She's just a non-resident who popped in for tea.
Surely guests are given a towel which they use then keep in their room. Put hand towel next to sink. No need for guests to use any other towel in bathroom. No need for scabies sharing.
Oh I agree with that Piglet, couldn't have put it better myself.
Bath towels are kept in bedrooms, airing over a rad or whatever.
Hand towels are a seperate thing, it goes on the top rung of the rad in the bathroom and is changed regularly.
Lets think how to deal with this scenario
Lets suppose I have nits, threadworm, scabies, eyebrow crabs, whatever (in fact I haven't)
Mrs Miggins from next door calls in for tea and scones. Pops into loo, washes her hands.
How do I (and she) make sure she picks up a clean guest hand towel, and not the filthy rag, crawling with infestation, that I used earlier? The guest towels must in some way be easily identifiable and seen to be clean. What's the way to do it?
Oh yes there is a hand towel which is for drying your hands. They are in my colour mostly but only belong to me if I use one for drying my hair. Everyone uses those I reckon unless they dry their hands on their own towel which is fine by me.
The downstairs loo is the one most guests would use anyway and there's just a runcible hand towel in there, changed weekly as the others.
We just have towels. But once you've used it, it's yours until its washed.
Hand towels are changed daily and are obviously hand towels, as next to sinks.
Guests who stay over, (or have a shower after a muddy football game!) are handed their own guest towels, which are the fluffiest I can find.
We have different colours for each person.
Guests get the guest towels, which are random colours and in good nick
'mmmm
I mean if someone dropped in and used the bathroom, would they be able to lay their hands on a guest towel, and how would they know you hadn't just been using it?
don't have that many visitors but the spares I have are in DH's and my colour so they'd get one of them I guess.
how do you identify the towels that you wish visitors to use?
we just have towels, everyone gets one out of the cupboard when they want one.
<loves a laundry thread>
Yeah we all have our own towels. DD and DS1 used to have eczema so didn't share and also there could be issues with worms, nits etc (all of which have visited in the past).
Just makes it easier. They are colour coded but the colourd tone (shades of blue and green) <channels inner Monica Geller>
I was them on a specific day once a week too, that always used to make my colleagues laugh.
Same as nannyl
Airing cupboard of white towels. Each person has their own bath towel at a time, and then shared hand towels in the bathroom and downstairs loo. I change them together and wash the lot at 60*.
We all have our own bath towel, only 1 hand towel in the bathrooms.
oh and each person has a different colour so no mixing up
we all have our own towels that are kept in the drawers under each persons bed (bathroom is upstairs). I thought this was the norm
We have our own towels
saying that i have lots of towels so i get a clean one out the airiing cupboard and keep it in my place, and OH does the same.... they are washed at 60 and stored in airing cupboard so i dont use the exact same towel each time, and i might use one that OH used last (but its been washed since)
DD has her own pink child sized towel, but i expect when her sister arrives, in time they will have a clean towel from the airing cupboard which could have been used by the other one last time
Just reading another thread and it got me wondering whether most people have their own towels or whether they are shared with family members?
DH, DS and I all have separate towels for baths/showers although we have only one hand towel in each bathroom.
Just curious really
