Ok, so it should be in BAD housekeeping, but I have just made a discovery when cleaning the oven...

There's a little latchy thing that pops the elements down, so that you can clean the roof of the oven properly! I can't believe I just noticed that!

My mother must be spinning...

Is there???? I wonder if I have one on mine.....

I had my head in the oven with a torch, swearing about the fact that you couldn't clean the top of the cooker properly because of the sodding elements (which you can't squirt Mr Muscle oven cleaner onto) and saw a little latch. So I wiggled it (9 years of grease gave way) and the whole element just swung down!

Sorry, you lost me at "clean the roof"

<wanders off to make another cuppa>

The insidey top bit. What would you call it?

Frontpaw I think Adora just gives the bottom of her oven a quick wipe out and job done i.e. the oven ceiling / roof never gets done.

apologies Adora if I've got the wrong end of the stick and have besmirched your reputation

People clean ovens? shock

Frontpaw Mon 03-Dec-12 18:09:17

Aparently so. News to me too!

I pay a bloke to do mine so I wouldn't know about latchy things.
[He would though!]

if all else fails, RTFM.

Frontpaw Mon 03-Dec-12 19:06:46

I did. When I first bought it and filed it neatly away.

I'd call it the same Front, just never thought of cleaning it blush

Fire

Just seen your post. I have a reputation?

This is news to me, is it a good 'un?

Crikeyblimey Wed 05-Dec-12 20:45:11

Surely it would be the "ceiling" not "roof".

Not bloody cleaning mine like - roof or ceiling. smile

I wonder does my shiny new oven have one?

I'm being really good about cleaning it unlike the old one but the roof confuses me.

maybe it's the soffit.
