I don't give a flying feck if your detergent can get the secretions of a Martian out of silk, all I ask is that

It can get tomato sauce type stains out!

Bolognaise, ketchup, lasagne, tomato soup.

These are all pretty usual meals in our home and the dc like to display their food to the world on their clothes. Is it too much to ask that at least 1 of the detergents on the market can get it out??

It bloody is, isn't it?

Oops, I don't actually sit my dc down to a whole plate of ketchup obviously!

I use Surf... it's pretty cheap but it gets most stuff out (except mud sometimes... only sometimes though). I cook a lot of tomato based sauces and they tend to spatter but I've never noticed stains on my clean clothes.

Daz and washing at 60

Oh no RedRuby sad.

I am getting close to only feeding dc mac and cheese with cauliflower!

Even the innocent looking banana leaves stains if you don't notice a toddler smushing it into his trousers .

Do you deal with these stains pronto or do you bung it in the laundry basket?

I put a little water and washing up liquid before shoving it in machine or laundry basket. No problems, unless I forget to do that.

I tend to buy what's on offer and think I've tried all of them by now, the only thing that reliably works is strong sunlight but that's sadly lacking for a few more months!

Another one here who strips the kids to eat bolognese.

My machine seems to be always on so it might not be straight away but not sat setting in the basket for a week.

Will try surf, I remember daz being terrible for getting anything clean.

Carex the handwash is great at getting stains out of clothes. You have to use the blue one. Wet the stain, rub in loads of carex, the stain will fade, then bung the item in washing machine and it should remove it. You may need to leave the carex soaked into the item for an hour or so before washing if it is a stubborn stain
