Went out for the first time in five months last night, (pregnancy, baby, knackered) and left DP to the DDs.
Got home to living room carnage. DP kicked a glass of wine over and it went all over the rug and up the curtains. He says he spent an hour trying to clean it but the stains are awful and there are lots of them. What can I do now to get rid of them?
So pissed off. It will be me that has to deal with them - DP not that bothered. He says he researched on the internet and used salt but that doesn't seem to have done much.
The house looks like tramps live here - in the summer DP walked in oil on the hallway carpet as he forgets to wipe his feet and despite steam cleaning, they are still there and now this.
Any ideas anybody? We are a bit broke so home made solutions if possible!

Hi a tip from The carpet cleaner I use, get a bottle of Soda water in the house JUST in case, pour on as soon as you spill red wine Etc. here's how I found him.

We use a mixture of vanish and washing up liquid. Mix it into a paste.

White wine.
We've always used it and it's always worked.

bit late thanking you ladies but thank you, will investigate these ideas!
There are so many spots of the wine, it is depressing.
Any thoughts on the faux silk curtains or is it curtains for them?
sob?

i don't think so swedish, and the colour now is perfect for the room.
i'll have to bite the bullet, get them down and try and get them dry cleaned and i hate hanging curtains!
