Says it all really. A cream carpet at that. I have blotted it with a damp cloth and then used some carpet cleaner. It is still wet so can't tell how bad it is. Can anyone suggest something that works to remove the stain please?
I don't think my first aid will really work and am gutted if I have ruined a perfectly decent carpet.
Help!

The only thing that ever works for me is white wine.

You should be OK with prompt application of carpet cleaner.
If not, do you have Contents Insurance?

Do you have any vanish? I spray it on everything as soon as I have a spill and so far it has always worked.

Get the smallest bottle of Stain Rx (a.k.a. Erado-Sol), you can and just touch a drop to the red wine stain - gone. Thank you for asking. The University of California - Davis did the study. Stain Rx was the best commercially available product to remove red wine stains. Guess what didn't work: White Wine, Wine Away, Wine Out, Spray 'n Wash, Salt... Try Stain Rx and then see what else it removes at their site under Helpful Hints.
Soak up and then salt left until all soaked up. Worked on our carpet when BIL got a whole glass of red wine on it. Worked too well actually, we now have a relly clean patch on our ancient, filthy, stained carpet. I've done the whole thing with a Vax since but that patch is still the cleanest!
