(8 Posts)

Dd has a bean bag which isnt cool anymore so whilst redoecorating her room looked at these here , i am thinking blimey they cant be that hard to make??? i have a sewing machine i might be able to remember how it works so has anyone and would the bean net out of her original beanybag do or could i get away with no net at all? hmmmmm .

Im just after a plain green one or green theme one.....

If you already have a decent beanbag you could just re-cover it. Oftne beanbags have an inner bag with the beads in and a zip off outer - if that is the case you are sorted. Just take the outer off and copy the pattern - it is likely to be a simple 3D net. So it is just a case of choosing an alternative fabric that is tough enough to withstand wear. Or two/three for a patchwork effect.

If you wanted a different shape, you'd have to sew a new inner bag out of old sheeting AND the nicer outer bag and then risk mayhem by transferring the polystyrene beads from the old inner to the new one - no small task! You can get extra polystyrene beads too.

Hope you get a great result - you've just reminded me that I was going to make a beanbag for my sons...

Woops - really poor readings skills on my part - sorry! You already have an inner net - don't even think about having no inner bag at all. Those beads get everywhere when they escape. Hilarious for children.

Thanks, the inner net is the usual ball shape so wanting a flat large cushion effect i think i will have to make an inner bag like you say but at lwast i can transfer them from one bag to another easily enough. I would be hideous at copying a pattern and hence the large cushion appeals as surely its just 2 huge squares, i was worried abotu balls escaping but making an inner bag out of an old duvet or some such should seal it. Thanks smile

We have 2 of these and they are huge, far too big for most bedrooms
They are great for outdoors though

The bean bag you link to is just a giant rectangle so it should be easy to make a new inner bag for the beans (the ones you have plus new ones).

Yeah i think eaglewings may have apoint it does look huge but then she lokes to hoyke herself in to the corner of her room - is 10 so perhaps i could do it slightly smaller. I woudl like it to have that oxford pillow case edging mind but not sure how hmmmm
