I've always been pretty ruthless at getting rid
Of my paperwork but DH seems to
Have stuff coming through the door every bloody day & the hallway sideboard is overflowing with it. If I sort it out for him (which I'm minded to do when he's away for work
Soon) what do I need to keep & what's the best way to store anything I shouldn't bin/ shred? Ta smile

documents showing births, marriages, passports etc - keep in a separate box or filing cabinet.
Bills keep in a desk-top file and occasionally chuck out (shred or tear up)
Account information keep in a spring file or a box-file in date order
School information keep in a box file in date order
anything else frivolous, like Xmas cards - chuck out.

I have been trying to tackle this recently, dh runs his own business and we have piles of paperwork everywhere and I can't bear it! so have started scanning (the printer does it!) and saving on an external hard disk of the computer... it takes a while, but at least i can chuck stuff away!! otherwise it's ring binder style folders for us, and a couple of sturdy out the way shelves! g0d knows how much we'll have in ten years time though!!
