Have you ever had your cooker professionally cleaned. Was it worth it?

Lots of flyers coming though our letterbox for this service at the moment. My
cooker is seriously filthy and I don't have the time nor inclination to clean it properly. Is a professional clean worth it? I've not enquired about the cost so I have no idea.

A friend of mine had hers done and she said it was fab. Don't know how much it cost though.

yes and yes! looked new, cost £48 and well worth it

It was fabulous and worth every penny. I had a very bad back injury and was at home and very, very fed up because I couldn't do much.

Phoned this company and the guy was spent three hours cleaning oven and hob.

It looked like new afterwards. Best money I have ever spent.

Mine cost £60 and the oven looked brand new. Sparkling.

My MIL is a domestic goddess WI queen-extraordinnaire and even she gets her oven professionally cleaned. It costs about £50 I think. I would be happy to spend to money if I could find an oven cleaning service locally! Oven-clean don't cover this area and a local chap has just retired. Over is filthy and I am pg so can't use over cleaners myself.

DM swears by her oven cleaning man, she's a domestic goddess in general but has always hated oven cleaning (it used to be my job when I lived at home because I quite like it).

It is not just a clean OP. It is dismantled and the trays etc are put into large tanks of cleaning chemicals. All knobs (fnrr fnrr) are removed and cleaned, glass is taken out and even the bulb covers are scrubbed clean.

I was stunned.

Yes and yes. It cost me around £80 with Ovenu. I know there are cheaper alternatives but it was worth every penny and I'd do it again! Didn't believe them beforehand when when they said near-showroom quality, but they were right.

Yes and Yes
I was really spooked at how shiny it was afterwards. I could even see through the oven door to the sparkling oven inside shock

Then it dawned on me that not only was it pristine clean, they had also replaced the light bulb inside thus enhancing the whole "looking through the door" experience blush

Yes and Yes.

I don't particularly want to have noxious solutions and liquids around and would pay ££££ to have someone else deal with the fall-out and mess.

Thanks everyone - that's sorted then. Will phone one of these companies tomorrow!!

I have ours done a few times a year, most importantly after christmas when it has been used heavily. The man that comes is fab and uses no chemicals, just natural products and it is gleaming. Well worth the £40.

I have a self cleaning oven, thats what it stated when I was given the oven 21 years ago - I have never seen it self clean though...

Yes and yes! Cost about £50 including hob for ours. All non-toxic apparently and completely safe to cook in straight away afterwards! If you are in the surrey/south london area happy to recommend our one to you...

LadyGrace Tue 17-May-11 20:29:33

Best £50 I've ever spent-used a franchise called Cookaburra, I think.

I could have married the man when he had finished, I was so thrilled grin

MouseWheat Tue 17-May-11 22:05:51

Yes and yes definately! Our oven was embarrassingly minging in need of a good clean and I HATE doing it. I used a company called Oven Revive - can highly recommend them if you're in the northwest. DM uses them too - she also has a self cleaning oven...hmm

Any of you in South Wales?

I've been wondering about this myself and you have convinced me that it would be a worthwhile way of spening my hard earned money!

Suncottage Tue 17-May-11 22:15:15

I used OvenU

Best £55 I ever spent. The franchise owner has now retired.

sad

HedgeSparrow Thu 19-May-11 10:06:43

I'm in South London MrsHerculePoirot - be interested to know who you used as I seriously considering getting someone in on the back of this thread grin

BikeRunSki Thu 19-May-11 17:13:17

Oooh so exited, Oven man coming on Tuesday, to do everything! Hob, oven, filter hood.

mrsravelstein Thu 19-May-11 17:14:00

i have mine done every 3 months, it's brilliant

HedgeSparrow - here

Jack was the man we had - it is a fixed price for however long it takes. It took about 3 hours for our oven and hobs, but only about an hour for my parents house!!!

SparkyToo Thu 19-May-11 22:39:19

It cost me £64 for an oven and the microwave/oven combi - well worth it! Needs doing again really (18 months, or so, on)
