Before I left teaching to be SAHM I did a couple interviews. I was successful in my applications but both times was told to be careful of going on too much. It's easy to go overbooard when you are passionate so I would say keep answers to the point and if they want to hear more they will usually ask.
Good luck

thank you. I think I may have a tendency to talk crap when nervous. Will button it.

good luck - have just started PGCE so can imagine the nerves - and am watching this thread with interest.
I have my first interview on Thursday to do GTP. I am very very nervous (and slightly pregnant, which doesn't help).
Anyhow, good luck with your interview - I'm sure it will be better than mine

Ask them at the end of the interview-
"Is there anything I haven't covered?"
or
"Would you like to ask anything else?"
And good luck

Oh, and if they give you a 'what-would-you-do' scenario, the answer is always "I would follow school policy"

If they ask you a question re "tell us a time when . . . " then remember your STARR quality, ie
Situation
Task
Action
Result
Reflection
to focus your answer!
Good luck!

The most important thing is your rapport with the pupils/students. What age group?
Hope it goes well for you.
Congratulations!
Any tips you care to pass on before I make a total arse of myself at my interview?

Thank you! Am sooo happy! I can't think of any tips! They were v nice, so I relaxed and enjoyed the process - which must have helped!
Well, I think your good luck rubbed off on me chewitt - I got offered the GTP job... despite some random panic induced wittering during interview
I used the "I would follow school policy" line too, so thank you tethersend.

Congratulations Washersaurus!! That's great news. Panic induced wittering must have some merits!
