Still not heard back after 2nd interview...

I have been for 2 interviews with a large blue chip company, the later being on 27th July. It is for a part time position starting end-September. I was really surprised that I did not hear either way whether I had got the job or not. I decided to call them last Thursday (16th), given that was 3 weeks after the last interview. I iwas informed that the recruitment person dealing with me was off on sick leave and that somebody would get back to me. I am still waiting to hear, all correspondence to date has been via telephone / email. any suggestions as to what to do next or whether to forget about it or not.

SOunds like their HR department is fun! I'd give it till end of August (lots of people off on holiday now) and then phone again. You should ask for feedback about your interview anyway even if you didn't get the job. I wouldn't say just forget about it, especially if it was 2nd interview. You put all that time and energy into preparing & going, they owe you an explanation at least!
