It my little girls first trial afternoon at pre-school on friday and then she starts properly (if all goes well) three afternoons a week. I am feeling very apprehensive and was just wondering if there was anyone with any advice out there!

She has just had her second birthday but is a very sociable child and I am sure she will love it and I am just a worrier but.... ;)

Also what will she need to take etc?

Thanks in advance,

Jules x

Bless you, have been there myself just recently. My daughter has Down's syndome and is tiny, can't walk at all and can't talk much, going into a mainstream nursery. I was SO worried! Thing is she'll be fine. This will be great for her, she'll thrive. You'll always worry but will love her bringing home her paintings and love hearing about how well she is doing and the friends she is making. She needs to do this and you need it too. She really will be fine.

I sent Lottie in with a list of everyone's phone numbers they could ever need and a note of the Makaton signs she knows, her likes and dislikes.
She had a nappy and wipes and a set of clean clothes in a bag with her name on it. I also included her own cup as she has to drink from a leaded spout beaker.

She really will be fine, and so will ou e. This is a worrying but wonderful time for you both.

TC xx

For the first term I sent ds1 in with a bag with spare clothing in it - at his preschool they had to be toilet-trained, but he was only just trained as it were. I also named his coat just in case it was duplicated (it was!) or got put on the wrong peg etc.

At this pre-school they bring in a toy each day to talk about at circle time, so he had something familiar.

well dd2 had her first play session at the daycare centre connected with dd1 nursery yesterday. she loved it. i am sending in a nappy bag, wipes, change of clothes and maybe a small comfort toy as well.

dd2 will only be going 1 afternoon a week, as i am paying for the place, and thats all they have free atm. she has a keyworker, and its a small group of 12 children she will be with, so am confident she will love it.
