Im off work at moment, and will be off for the next few weeks. What I am dreading though when I go back is the tiredness. After ive been at work all day I am unable to string a sentence together! I am more irritable due to the tiredness. But i ALWAYS feel tired even if I sleep well. I am dreading going back-

There must be other parents who feel like this, and i just wondered how you cope.

What do you do, that makes you so tired? Are you sitting at a desk all day, or is it more manual?

If the former, maybe try and get out at lunch for a good walk - is the gym a possibility? When I was in the office 7-6, I found some fresh air and/or exercise really helped.

Good luck!

my job is working with people-on a one to one basis and having small groups. It is quite draining when we are busy! Even people without kids say it is tiring!

that does sound pretty full on.

i find exercise helps - even though it is that last thing you feel like. you are probably more mentally tired than physically. going for a run destresses me and helps me sleep better at night.

feel free to swear at the screen if this sounds too ridiculous!

I actually find I have more energy now I am back at work than I did when off.

You may actually find once you are back that you are amazed about how easy life is in the office as opposed to looking after younglings all day. I know I still find constant joy in drinking a cup of coffee whilst still hot and closing the toilet door when I have a pee, bliss !

Also try Spatone iron supplements, I find that they perk me up no end and I'm a person not renowned for boundless energy.

Good luck

my best tips are:
eat a good breakfast of porridge to set you up
snack on fruit etc rather than junk to avoid the 3.00 pm "crash"
always try to leave the office - i subscribe to the nipping to the shops for a 10 minute wander rather than the gym
you will start to manage, so be kind on yourself- the first couple of weeks until you are all in a routine is hard
i am sure you will be fine

Sheherazadethegoat-you have hit the nail on the head. I is more mentally tiring than physically tiring. Coming home to deal with two energetic boys with no chance of respite as i dont have support-im dreading it!

i do exercise and find it helps, and im trying yoga dvds thsi may help

try not to get too worked up about it, I got myself into a terrible state of worrying about this type of thing after having my first, when I went back after my third, I was thinking 'I've got to do it, work and being Mum, so I'll just get on with it' You'll probably suprise yourself!!! Good luck!
