Hi - New to this...
I have a 19month old and a 3 1/2 year old - I have been working 3 days a week until the 1st Jan when I am now full time and totally regret going full time - I don't know what to do!

I work for a small company 2 partners and 6 staff (including me) - back in Nov the bosses put pressure on me to do full time again (saying that me doing 3 days wasn't really helping the company - had been doing this since March when I went back after mat. leave) and offered quite a salary increase - at the time I thought it would be fine but am now regretting my decision as the last few weeks have been really tough. I didn't really have much time to think about my decision very long.

I feel bad about going back to my bosses and saying I don't want to do full time anymore but I have no idea what else to do - I have already asked them since being back if there is anyway that I can work shorter lunch break so I can leave early and that has been declined.

The more I keep thinking about it the worse I feel - my boys are still quite young and are now in nursery/pre-school for like 50 hours a week - I feel awful about this.

I want to work, but don't want to do full time anymore (when I returned after my 1st was born I was full time and it didn't bother me, but now having 2 and they are now growing up etc)

I am off today as couldn't face going to work (feel so stressed about it all) - have been looking at part time jobs this morning but there doesn't seem to be any near me that are suitable.

What would you do?

P.s sorry about the long thread

If you really don't want to do the full-time hours then I suppose all you can do is ask your company if you can go back to part-time hours. Maybe compromise on a 4 day week?

Alternatively, could you use the increased salary to pay for a nanny for at least part of the week? Then your boys can be at home and the nanny should be able to tackle some nursery duties like the DC's laundry/run a few errands/do a bit of cooking etc.

I think given how they weren't amenable to flexible working hours e.g. Lunch hour it sounds like youll have to do a formal request to go part time again or look for another job

Have you thought about a nanny so the kids are looked after at home ?

Or a childminder ?

Or what about your partner doing your days or part time ?
