Working with school age children

At the moment I work 3 days a week and ds and dd are in full time nursery on those days. We are moving house next year, probably in the Summer and I will have to leave my current job as we are moving so far away. Ds will be starting school next September - if I wanted to carry on working what are my options for childcare for him in between school and the time I would come home?. Do you think they work for you? I really don't know whether to look for another job or not. I feel I want to be there when he gets home from school. But..... at the moment it is what keeps me sane and I am really scared I will miss it.
Of course, there is the option of having a third child or not that is complicating this even more, but that is another issue HELP!

hi,

I think the most common option is to have a childminder who will pick him up from school. She may or may not be able to have you dd as well, but it wasn't necessary for me, my youngest was in full time nursery while my oldest was picked up by a childminder.

lots of childminders round us do this and have regular school runs - usually to teh school where their kids go.

ideally find one with a child the similar age or at least where your child is happy with the other kids.

It is hard if you can't pick them up, but a good childmnder will provide most of what you would do anyway, and if she feeds them an eve meal even better as it's one less thing for you to rush through when you get in..... leaving more time for homework....
