I am a single parent and am currently on income support. I have been offered a commission only job and really want it!

My concern is if i am slow to earn how will i survive? I am good in this field and know i can earn but it may be a slow start.

What monies am i entitled to etc?

Thanks in advance

well done to you for taking such a scary step!

I work for JSA, but the rules are more or less the same for IS, i think...

you can't work more than 16 hours a week ( renumerative work exclusion) or earn more than £20 over your income support level.

your work will be averaged over a period decided by the income support decision maker if your hours/wages fluctuate.

when someone declares themselves self employed i personally let them declare their earnings until a pattern is established and then average the declared earnings.

don't forget. tax credits will help you out too.

hope this helps
