What should I wear for an interview>

I have an interview tomorrow for a job as a legal PA type person (have always worked in law firms apart from last 2 years).

Its many years since Ive been for an interview and to be honest Ive lost some weight and none of my suits fit me now but as Im still losing and plan to drop panother couple of stone Im loath to go buy a new one. The firm is a high street practice but local and could be very convenient as they have indicated that school hours are acceptable.

What should I wear - interview is really informal chat etc as opposed to testing and formal interview

I would still wear a suit if you have one. The thing is, it shows you've made an effort, which in turn shows you want the job. Ceryainly wouldn't go casual (not that you said you would )

Good luck!

If its informal what about really smart trousers and a white shirt. not so ott as a full suit but still business like, espcially with some smart shoes or boots.

Trousers are good if you are planning to lose more weight too, as you can always get them taken in. Or could you get any of your exisiting stuff taken in for the interview?

Another idea could be a really smart wrap dress. Just pull it in tighter as you lose weight.

Good luck with the job btw

I once read that you should look at what current employees wear and dress slightly smarter

do you have time to hang around like a stalker for a minute or two

how much weight are we talking? Are we talking slightly loose/ could be fixed with a belt or hanging off you like a sack?

I have an interview next week and am wearing black trouser and (hopefully) a nice blouse/top and some black boots.

Good luck!!

i will go buy a new one then as both are big on me but the one I prefer literally swamps me and the trousers fall down - possibly not a good look for an interview

I always advise candidates that if they are going for a job in an office setting they should wear a suit no matter how informal the intervew is.

Keep jewellery / makeup down to a minimum (no gold sovs / passion pink lipstick). A pair of stud earrings looks good (there's some theory about it being the equivalent of shoulder badges on someone uniformed, not sure how true that is though).

If you are the kind of person who plays with your hair tie it back.

Jampot if you want any general interview advice let me know and I can send you a few crib sheets, if that would be of any use to you.

i bought that suit and was thinking of simple white top underneath (shirts make my tits look huge)

I would appreciate some interview advice as although Im sure I could do the job standing on my head it has been many many years since an interview

could you email me at [email protected] thanks

Jampot did you get the email? If you haven't, let me know, I'll send it again. Or you might want to check it hasn't gone into your junk mail by mistake.

thanks lunar

Right, have tried on white top under the suit but my tits look enormous so am thinking of darker colour /less contrast to not draw attention to the area.
