Starting a new job and pregnant!

Hi everyone, I'm not sure where to post this so hoping someone can help or redirect me to the right place.

I've always worked full time and have an established career but made a huge mistake and took a contract position for a year, 3 months in found out I was pregnant, very happy and contract ended one month earlier than planned when I went on maternity leave albeit with no maternity pay etc. Baby is now 9 months old and I've been job hunting for the last month, financially I need to return to work....however...DP and I have just had a huge shock and discovered I'm pregnant again! I'm 43!!! We'd fallen in to the trap of believing it's almost impossible to conceive at 43. Anyway putting all that to one side, does anyone know how you stand with starting a job and a month or two in telling them you're pregnant? Can they terminate your employment?

They can't just because of the pg. However you don't have many employment rights in first 2 years otherwise so they could still let you go if they are careful to follow procedures. You won't qualify for Smp but might for ma.

Thanks Lizs, that's what I thought. Tbh even working for a few months would be something and I'll just return to work really quickly next time.
