Becoming an NCT practitioner

I'm about to start the NCT birth and beyond course, which is 2 yrs part time. At the end I will be qualified to deliver the nct essentials antenatal course.

Has anyone had any experience of this at all?! I'm really in two minds as to whether I should continue. The money seems v bad plus it is really hard to find out how much work will be available.

I'd be very grateful if anyone has any experiences or advice ?

Watching with interest. I'd ideally like to concentrate on the bf counselling side of things but believe that this is the (nct) course you have to begin with. Having experienced only cs (×3) I'm not sure Is be considered acceptable!

Yep you are right in that if you do the birth and beyond course you can then go on to do the bf counselling bit. I'm sure you would get onto the course!

My issue really is the cost of the course is so high with no guarantee of any work after, certainly not well paid work. I totally get this will never be a lucrative career option though. Would just be v helpful to hear from anyone who has done the course..

I'm an ex-NCT teacher - happy to talk via pm!
