I posted a while ago after I finally decided to hand in my notice from my teaching job as I was really unhappy. My plan was to try to get into primary MFL. Well, a job has come up in a really nice middle school, three miles from home. Perfect. Except it's full time I've done three days a week for three years now and it's great. The job is temporary for two terms from Jan to July. I am in such a dilemma as this could be my way into the field I have always wanted to be in. My mum has said she will have the DSes for the two extra days so child care isn't an issue but I just get so tearful thinking about not having those two days at home. On the other hand I know that it'll be seven months of really good pay working with great kids and would mean that next Sept which is DS1's last term before school I'd hopefully have some cash aside so as to not have to work so much and could also perhaps be at home when he starts school so could take him and pick up.
Oh help!! I think I know in my heart that I am going to go for it as it makes so much sense, but being full time again just fills me with dread! I've asked if they would consider part time but they can't (unless I can find a job sharer .... anyone!!)
Lots of whaffle but just need some reassurance!

I'd go for it. You can always leave if you don't like it but you might regret it if you don't. It's not so bad working ft and if this is your way in you should take it - short term pain for med/long term gain.

definitely go for it. You'd regret it if you didn't. YOu can always leave if it gets too much.

WWW your last line is exactly my thinking to be honest. I could end up doing supply in a really awful school ( possibly even worse than where I am now!) It's also the right time to earn as much money as possible full time whilst both DS are at nursery then I can have some time at home perhaps once DS1 starts school and I need to juggle school/nursery. Am acting like I have already got the job when I haven't even applied for it yet!!!

Sounds like you'd really enjoy this new job, and you've got the childcare aspect covered, so I agree with the other posters - go for it!
