Work

letter of interest

An internal advert has just been emailed to everyone at work. The job on offer I would prefer to the one I have now so even though it is more hours I have decided to go for it. On the email it says ' send a letter/email of interest to........'
My problem is what on earth do I put in the letter of interest?

You say which job you are after, introduce yourself, tell them why you are interested in the job (put it in a way that it's relevant for them too), and why you are ideally suited for it. Mention when you'd be able to start, if appropriate.

The main information will be on your CV, but you may mention a couple of the most relevant bits on the letter.
Sound positive and enthusiastic, without going Apprentice style.

Keep it short (but not too much), ideally up to one page. Use spaces between paragraphs and wide spacing.
Read it a few times and remove all unnecessary words. Make sure the ideas flow and are logical, and all relevant info is there.

Give it to other people (who are not invested in the jobs) to read it. Friends, family, a professional you trust.
