(For the past 8 yrs, i've helped out my husband's business on the admin side of it).

im looking for a part time work (between 20 - 30 hrs a week)...alot had changed since i last worked. i used to work full time 10 yrs ago, till i was made redundant as expected (as the business went under) and at the same time my first child was 5 months old...(was on maternity leave). In the next few years, i had my second and then my third child. (im not having anymore children). I'm looking for a job pronto but at the same time a career change. i used to work in a call centre but im looking to become a teaching assistant in nursery/ks1, but the college courses are all full time for a year which is no good, so i feel stuck or am i to be stuck working in a call centre forever!! arghh.

im relying on my family to help out the children as age 2, 6 and 10 to collect them from school, etc. as cant afford childcare and we arent exactly flushed either.

i feel stuck about the career change as i think its harder for me as jobwise as im deaf too.

thanks

If you really want to do something you will somehow find a way. If TA is the role you really want, perhaps speak to a few schools about how you might get good experience, see a careers advisor about your options, perhaps there's some way of studying part time with work that requires similar skills? I'm no expert but I just wanted to offer some encouragement as what you are doing is really daunting and you are very brave to make the decision.

Bear in mind that as a student part time or full time, you are entitled to subsidised childcare at the college/university. This may not be of help but thought I'd mention it. Good luck and go for it. I'm sure you will find a solution :)

yes thats exactly what im gonna do, in the meanwhile im looking for a job, is to get some TA experience under my belt.

I was thinking oh ill wait till my youngest in full time education which is another 2 years off...He is at the nursery atm 15 hrs a week, but then i thought no ill try and do something now and then be in a better place in 2 yrs time if you know what i mean?

Im gonna pop into the college to see where i stand and yes im aware of the childcare entitlements.

thank you
