Maternity leave and keeping in touch

Before going on maternity leave I discussed keeping in touch with my boss and we both agreed to use the official keeping in touch days and that my boss would keep me up to date via text / email of any important changes. Nothing so far. I've been in touch and asked when would be good for KIT days but no response.

I'm a quarter of the way through my leave and have heard from a friend about redundancies in the team and a restructure. It doesn't affect my role directly (I think!) but affects those I work with and therefore what I do in the role slightly also. Should they have told me about this? Or is the done thing to not tell me until I get back?

I guess officially they don't have to schedule KIT days or tell me anything. I just feel so out of touch and that going back will be so much harder as a result

Just felt like a moan really and to see if anyone else had similar

Not sure of the legalities of telling you about the restructure but I would have thought it best practice at the very least to keep you in the loop.

Re KIT days was also hard to get scheduled here-had to keep pushing-think sometimes people (incorrectly) assume you're not interested until nearer when you come back!

Thanks amroc. I feel a bit bad for being so interested but I do kinda miss work and the gossip! I think I'll ask again, you are right they might just be assuming I'm not interested yet
