I am not actually due back until Feb, but have decided to do something else instead. I have only received statuatory Mat Pay so have nothing to pay back.

Do I just give them a month's notice in writing? I don't actually have to return do I???

i didn't go back to my job in may after maternity leave ended. all i did was check my contract as to how much notice i had to give, and a month before the year was up handed in my notice. no you don't have to return at all.

what have you decided to do instead? are we allowed to know , i'm a sahm until the new house is straighter then going to go freelance and design from home

Just give them notice , now if you need to in order to go on the payroll elsewhere.
