I recently requested for flexible working hours, my manager agreed and sent me a signed slip confirming, he later changed his mind saying he can't reduce my hours, i wrote to HR explaining this now they have called me for an interview, am a bit worried they might reject my request, has anyone been through similar situation.

I work in HR, what would happen if I was supporting this case is I'd get your manager to meet with you and discuss your request and how it would work but not give an answer in that meeting, it is purely to obtain enough information to make a decision.

I'd then discuss your request with the manager and ask if they could accommodate it, if not it has to fall within 7 proscribed reasons which are easily google-able if you want to know what they are. Things like detrimental impact on cost or quality.

We would then respond to either accept your request, decline it with the reasons or occasionally the request may be accepted on a trial basis or an alternative solution proposed.

If we did not accept your request you have right of appeal to get the case heard by another (usually more senior) manager.
