has anyone else qualified in their profession and then immediately taken time out for children?

I feel pretty alone in this respect as I spent 10 years working towards qualifying in my profession, and then had ds before I could actually practice. Now have had dd a couple months ago so that's reset the career commencement again (have been out of my field for three years now) and I'm feeling a bit despairing of ever actually using my qualification sad

Anyone else who's done/doing it this way round? Any words of support or comfort? At the moment I'm rueing the fact that I sacrificed a lot (decent salary, holidays etc) to achieve my goal, but now can't envisage using it and can't do those things (in the same free and easy way) with children. Just feel a bit stuck i guess.

I trained at the Bar then transferred to the city, have 3 kids and one on the way. The thing is with a profession it is just that- a profession that lasts forever. More than a job. There is no rush to greatness. Enjoy your kids and take your time. As long as you do enough to maintain your practice certificate status yearly you can pick up later, albeit at the bottom.
