Did you re-train whilst on maternity or go back to a different job?

I am really bored working in my line of work and would love to think that during maternity I could re-train to do something else and change my life a bit. Did anyone else do this?

This is something I'm interested in too but not sure what I'd like to do! So just marking my place grin

Hoping some others respond to this as I'm currently on mat leave and looking for a new job.

Um, are you on maternity leave at the moment? I am guessing not and this might be your first pregnancy? The idea of retraining for a new job during ML is appealing but probably not very realistic. Initially, your days are going to be completely consumed by looking after the baby and even if/when you get into a routine you will still be trying to fit this training around bf/sleepless nights. Also, what about childcare? Can you afford to pay for nursery/cm while training? What kind of training are you thinking of doing?

i did a teaching course whilst on mat leave. it was just one module and took ten weeks at one evening per week. dh looked after the baby while i was at college. i wanted to move on to the next level which would have been another 20 weeks at college and a 30 hour teaching placement. dh was going to look after the baby for this but the teaching placement i was offered couldn't start until i would have been back at work so i couldn't do it.

i think it is achievable to do a part time course whilst on mat leave. if i am lucky enough to have another baby i would try to complete the course on my next mat leave.

for me it was the only time i have had to do something like that as i wouldn't get home from work in time for evening classes usually.

my baby was five months when i did the course. think it would be hard with a newborn

I am doing an OU degree which I find relatively manageable in terms of workload along with DD1 but not sure what I will
Do with it after. I am just hoping a degree will open more doors for me. Interested to hear what others are doing/have done
