i have always worked in business to business sales.
Company is moving site which will result in much longer commute so am looking at options.
Had an interview for a business to consumer role this week very local to me.
Pay virtually identical.
Please tell me how i would find the differences and has anyone made the change either successfully or unsuccessfully?
(assuming i am offered the job!)
I will find out Friday if I have a second interview.
I could commute if necessary with existing job but ideally would prefer not to.

My DH moved the other way B2C into B2B... These were the points he made.

B2B you have to kiss arse lots more, however B2C you have to be far more 'professional' eg can't get away with having as much of a laugh with the customer. You don't tend to build a relationship with B2C in the same way.

He does say if you can do one you would be fine doing the other!

B2B much less pressured, IMO. Not in Sales, but have moved from B2B to B2C and hate it.

thanks both of you.
i really like the relationship side of it with the customer and that definitely is something i would miss.
Difficult to know what to do!
I am leaning toward staying put and doing the commute but that i think is mainly due to worrying about the unknown and if i would find it very difficult and pressured with a short sales cycle.
I guess it would be all about close close close!

What would you be selling? That makes a difference. Is it big one off orders - or consumables, that have to be ordered over and over again?
