Can anyone point me towards resources about Edward de Bono's 6 thinking hats please?

Resources for children as well as those for adults if you know of any?

DS (8) is being given a project to do about this for school. He is so far ahead in literacy that he will do this project instead of some of the straightforward literacy work, and instead of getting ANY literacy homework.

He is going to define the 6 thinking hats, look at which thinking styles other class members use, and then teach other people about it.
This is a) to offer him something challenging to do
b) to help him appreciate how other people think. He doesn't tolerate other's opinions and lesser/different abilities well.

I am interested in the theory anyway, and want to be able to discuss it with him if he gets stuck.

Have you tried Google? e.g. MindTools.

I did google for it of course, before posting on here. Just thought someone might be able to point me at something useful, rather than me trawling thru all the dross that google throws up to find the useful bits.

I'm an accredited trainer in the Six Thinking Hats. Am also experienced in training children and adults, as have been doing since 1999.

And from my site can give advice if you email me also at [email protected]
It's very important the Hats are understood properly. They are very easy to understand, but to appreciate the full power, youngsters and adults need to know the principles of how they work (parallel thinking and perception). We also need to understand the importance of the use of the Hats as opposed to simply knowing about the Hats. Good Luck. I am happy to give my services about the Six Thinking Hats.

As a matter of interest, the 6 thinking hats are taught to backward children besides the gifted, and Downs Syndrome children have also benefited from the parallel thinking the hats provide (providing they are taught properly by a skilled de Bono trainer). There is a mis-perception that only people of high intelligence benefit from thinking skills. Nonsense. In fact, people with a high intelligence are often rather poor at thinking, because they are too preoccupied with what they "know" to be so. Or too busy proving themselves right and others wrong, to be interested in exploring a subject (thinking). Youngsters who were too violent are sent to the Hungerford Guidance Centre, where the principal, David Lane, did a 20-year follow-up. His findings were that of all the youngsters taught de Bono thinking, only 10% re-offended. Note the thinking skills (and hats) must be taught properly by a trained instructor for there to be the full benefit imparted to students.

'the 6 thinking hats are taught to backward children'

You are an insensitive prat who is around 30 years out-of-date with your phraseology. So instantly you are discredited in my opinion as a trainer and as a person worth listening to.

Thirty years is not very long! Some things have changed for the worse in that time, e.g., much of Political Correctness (PC) is just another form of instant judgement. Being realistic is part of thinking: there are criminals, female paedophiles, mentally ill people, backward, gifted, average etc. Your name-calling is also a good example of bad thinking! Try smiling and being patient. No one is arguing with you!
