DD got a scaled score of 120 - (the max) in reading, 119 in spag and 110 in maths which she is gutted about.
I am so pleased and so proud of her, she got a fantastic report and heads to secondary a confident, happy, motivated child - I just hope she stays that way!!!

I am really pleased for you, you must be very proud.

A word of caution, please don't think I'm pissing on your chips, meant in the best possible way.
Be proactive at monitoring your last phrase, I had one of these last year, not academic though.
The year has been terrible and she has come in well below average in every sense.
I hope the outcome is better for your child.

The biggest barrier is not wanting to appear clever or swotty, it isn't cool.

I am somewhat sceptical about the value of the SATS and I think that all this testing at 10/11 is totally wrong, but I'm very proud of dd's results - 120 in both the reading and the SPAG and 116 in maths. And thanks to her amazing year 6 teacher, very little stress along the way.

Just come on here to see what the sats results mean! DS did well and got 120, 119 and 114. He's bright especially at English, but he's never been called g&t. His entire class did well - it's a state London primary. Am hearing New Life's warning. He's due to go to a school we are not happy about (but top of waiting list for better school). Can imagine de motivation if he's in with less able children.

My dd got 140+ for VR and NVR when she was in year 4 and 141 for NVR in an 11+, but I don't know if she counts as being g&t, as I have always believed in teaching her, so the results could be because of education rather than just genetic.

In terms of raw scores, older son dropped 5 marks in total (3 in grammar, 2 in reading); younger dropped 6 (4 in reading, 2 in grammar) - this meant that the one with more marks got the lower scaled score. Very useful for competitive twins.

And it's not that I "can't" talk about it elsewhere; I don't want to. I still think the system is bollox, and I hate what it's done to so many children's experience of primary school.

For what it's worth, my kids go to a bog-standard state primary. They and their peers have had a brilliant time in Y6 - loads of art, music and sport as well as the core subjects. They went on a week-long residential just before SATs. No endless practice papers. No trauma.

And, although we live in an 11+ area, my boys have had no tutoring, nor did they take the 11+. They're 'lucky', in that they have the kinds of brains that test well, the kind of background that means the vocabulary, for example, in the reading test didn't flummox them, and haven't had to deal with any particularly difficult issues at home. They'll be going to the bog-standard state secondary that's just round the corner, and we're all looking forward to seeing how that part of the journey works out for them.

The thing that makes me most proud about their end of school reports? They are kind. Thoughtful. Creative, sporty and generally well liked.

We've been in Germany for this academic year and DD1 is in a German medium school. They grade against a central curriculum with the grades going Excellent, Good, Good with some errors...

My DD1 was placed in a class above her age mates (so she's three months younger than anyone else in her class rather than one of the oldest) and she got Excellent in everything except German and in that she got a Good!

I'm sneaking in to say that my Y2 dd was working in greater depth in Maths, reading (both of which we expected), writing and science. Apparently she loves writing and is very expressive, and she is finding her voice (and sense of humour) in the classroom. She had been terribly shy and suffered from a bit of anxiety in earlier years, so we are very very happy. And I'm going to confess that, despite the fact they aren't important, i wish we had been given the SAT scores. I'm curious!!

We're not in SATS world and haven't had end-of-year report yet, but I just wanted to say well done to all these awesome children and lovely parents!

Whatever level a child is working at, it's so nice to receive a report that is pleasantly surprising in some way or contains a meaningful personal comment from the teacher.

Sometimes the high achieving families can be made to feel bad about 'boasting', but these kids need as much positive reinforcement as any others. It's nice to find a 'safe' place for people to share their joy and pride.
