It's very red with a dry head. Best way to get rid if it?

He couldn't get a doc's appointment today.

(Sorry for yuckiness !)

YouReethra Mon 26-Nov-12 20:26:00

Picture first. You know the drill.

Where is it ?

CMOTDibbler Mon 26-Nov-12 20:26:16

mag sulph paste under a dressing - it'll draw the head out.
And a picture for MN will help it no end <ahem>

ThePathanKhansWitch Mon 26-Nov-12 20:34:55

Really need to see it.Urgently.

BaconAndAvocado Mon 26-Nov-12 21:12:40

Really sorry but I'm a major techno phobe and wouldn't know how to put a photo on, honestly!

Will try the mag sulph, thanks.

DH has now given boil a name......

BaconAndAvocado Mon 26-Nov-12 21:16:14

What's klaxon?

hopenglory Mon 26-Nov-12 21:16:55

Priorities! hot flannels, mag sulphate.

Only try the milk bottle trick if you work out how to kink videos

BaconAndAvocado Mon 26-Nov-12 21:22:06

Milk bottle trick?

CoteDAzur Mon 26-Nov-12 21:23:27

Pick off the dry head, then press on both sides.

Enjoy grin

BaconAndAvocado Mon 26-Nov-12 21:27:47

That is sooo tempting but we don' t have any plastic sheeting.....

Seriously we are currently in talks with Channel 4 for the documentary grin

hopenglory Mon 26-Nov-12 21:36:43

The klaxon is what you sound to bring all the sporners running with good advice

BaconAndAvocado Mon 26-Nov-12 22:01:59

DH now having TCP filled bath, going to GP tomorrow. Hope he, and boil, get good night's sleep.

I may well sleep on sofa tonight.....

YouReethra Mon 26-Nov-12 22:37:17

What has he named the boil ?

Rachog Mon 26-Nov-12 22:39:37

Have a squeeze and report back!

BaconAndAvocado Tue 27-Nov-12 12:45:32

He's named the boil Edward, which is a bit lost on me!

He's gone to docs this morning so will report back later on Edward's progress/demise.

On the last viewing Edward's head was a dark grey colour.....

ThePathanKhansWitch Tue 27-Nov-12 16:16:41

Oh it really needs squeezing.

BaconAndAvocado Tue 27-Nov-12 19:26:44

I know but I can't even bear to look at it now, let alone touch it!

The doctor has prescribed anti biotics and if it doesn't improve in 2 days it will need to be drained in hospital........bleeeurgh! It sounds medieval!

DH has now drawn a circle in biro around Edward to chart any possible growth.

Edward has become part of the family grin

ThePathanKhansWitch Tue 27-Nov-12 19:43:15

If you're in the Uk, i could possibly be with Edward in a few hours, save dh a trip to hospital.grin
i am not joking

Leverette Tue 27-Nov-12 20:06:32

please can we see a picture grin

Jacksmania Tue 27-Nov-12 20:14:58

Really, how are we supposed to advise without visual evidence?

The milk bottle trick is when you heat a glass milk bottle in boiling water, slap the opening over the boil and wait for the bottle to cool. As it cools, a vacuum forms in the bottle. Which will usually cause the boil to erupt spectacularly. And conveniently, neatly in the bottle.
'Tis fab grin

Violetroses Tue 27-Nov-12 20:21:53

Would that work with a wine bottle....?

Jacksmania Tue 27-Nov-12 20:27:09

I don't know. I think it depends on the size of the boil. I think a clear bottle is best, and the opening has to cover all or most of the boil.

Corygal Tue 27-Nov-12 20:31:04

Ummmm, can I and my friend Beryl the Boil join in? I've got her on the inner thigh about an inch wide - she is fat and her skin is sort of grey: she gets greyer in the middle.

Do I need to do anything? Will she depart naturally, or at least slip off before someone asks me to take pix up me kilt and put them on the interweb.

Doinmummy Tue 27-Nov-12 20:51:07

Corygal Beryl needs to have her pic taken for posterity (and posted on here )

Corygal Tue 27-Nov-12 21:13:15

Oh NO--- Beryl BURST. That 20 min silence was me doing battle with loo roll with legs round my neck. She must have been camera shy.

Right, what came out. A lot of some wet stuff, then a lot of blood with little white flecks in it.

Do I just leave her to it? You could fit a fag in the hole. (I won't give her one, even tho she is post-explosive & prob craving one).

Corygal Tue 27-Nov-12 21:16:47

Do I need to have a bath in dettol? Tights to the bin? What else...she hurts all the way up to my hip.

CMOTDibbler Tue 27-Nov-12 21:30:07

Put a good handfull of salt in the bath, and some tea tree oil if you have some, and have a soak - that should draw any remaining yuck out. Then put a dressing on Beryl to protect her

BaconAndAvocado Tue 27-Nov-12 21:31:01

thepathan I haven't laughed so much in ages! grin

corygal many congrats on demise of Beryl. Edward sends his condolences.

New years resolution will be to learn how to put photos on t'interweb, I'm so sorry for my crapness. Would love to share Edward in all his swollen, grey glory.

Corygal Tue 27-Nov-12 21:36:22

Thank you CMOREBeryl! I feel miles better with the loving arms of MN, or at any rate your gloriously comforting sense, around me. Will do.

Bacon - good luck with Edward, hope he gets to a better world soon.

ThePathanKhansWitch Tue 27-Nov-12 21:46:21

Can you let us know what Edward is made of, if you're there at the end.
It really is the least you can do. We need to sound effects, and the colours of Edwards inards.--yes i am that depraved--.

You lucky, lucky bastards

Where is Edward?

BaconAndAvocado Tue 27-Nov-12 22:27:42

Me and DH are laughing so much that Edward may very well be on his way to a better world soon, through guffaw induced bursting (here's hoping!)

If Edward does meet his maker (DH?) in an explosive way, I promise to post all the revolting (sorry Ed) details as soon as I can.

SecretNutellaFix Wed 28-Nov-12 21:15:57

any update?

Corygal Wed 28-Nov-12 21:26:24

Aieee - Beryl (RIP) has a twin! I have just found her. Same size, popped up overnight. Next to Beryl.

Any advice? I can't take a picture of either little miracle. Unless I use a Box Brownie, geddit.

Nagoo Wed 28-Nov-12 21:32:52

I heard the faintest call of the Klaxon! smile

I'd LOVE to do the milk bottle trick. One day..... <whimsical>

Corygal Wed 28-Nov-12 21:39:47

I might try it on the new boil. Oh woe. Why are all my milk bottles plastic? Blast and drat modern life.

Nagoo Wed 28-Nov-12 21:55:11

Hmmmn. What comes in a clear glass bottle?

Corygal Wed 28-Nov-12 21:58:42

nagoo - I might try the olive oil bottle. Am limping round kitchen looking for bottles with diameters large enough.

Will report back tomorrow. Sleep well! And thanks....

BaconAndAvocado Thu 29-Nov-12 18:06:24

Hi all, Edward was much reduced this morning, waiting for him (and DH) to get in for an update.....

Jacksmania Thu 29-Nov-12 18:08:33

Ooh... <rubs hands>

FirstTimeForEverything Thu 29-Nov-12 19:08:01

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

CMOTDibbler Thu 29-Nov-12 19:12:14

I'm watching Rolfs Animal Clinic atm, and they've just drained a 20 litre abcess on a bull. Rivers of pus !

Corygal Thu 29-Nov-12 19:42:51

Oooh I might email Rolf and ask him to come round for Beryl II...

Corygal Thu 29-Nov-12 19:43:30

CMOT - dyou want to direct?

CMOTDibbler Thu 29-Nov-12 19:49:24

I'll be round with the camera grin. Although after the trauma of DHs boil a few months ago, I'm not sure if I'm ready

BaconAndAvocado Thu 29-Nov-12 20:43:06

I've got some sad, sad news.

Edward is no more. In the end the anti-biotics got the better of him.

He will be sorely (ouch!) missed by everybody who knew, to knew of him.

Edward is dead, Long Live Beryl II.

Corygal Thu 29-Nov-12 21:21:54

Well done Bacon. Cmot - Beryl II will wait for your talents, the way De Niro does for Scorsese. In your own time.

ThePathanKhansWitch Fri 30-Nov-12 20:30:58

Oh no!! Edwarrrrd come back!!.

Corygal Fri 30-Nov-12 21:46:59

No! How! Is it time for antibiotics? What he doing?

BaconAndAvocado Sat 01-Dec-12 15:03:20

Where Edward once lay there is now a sizeable hole! It goes from bad to worse (sorry Ed That Was)

Skiffen Sat 01-Dec-12 15:08:42

I read this thread with mounting excitement, only to be disappointed!! <plans to search dh for any possible sporn later>

Corygal Sun 02-Dec-12 20:31:40

How big hole?

CMOTDibbler Sun 02-Dec-12 20:33:18

The remains of Edward may now need packing to make it heal properly. Your dh will not enjoy this I'm afraid
