Why are my feet SO BLOODY ITCHY?

It's driving me crazy! Itchy soles of feet, toes really bad too. No rash, redness, marks... nothing. Hands are fine, just feet that I'm constantly scratching.

What the hell could it be?

Douse them in tea tree oil in case it's athlete's foot?

Are you pregnant? It can be a sign of obstetric cholestasis if so - go to the GP for a blood test

Don't think it's athletes foot - no manky bits between toes, and it's the soles of my feet more than the toes - does it present like this?

Not pg no.. well, I could be, but would only be a matter of days if I am so unlikely that smile

I will google chilblains.

CumberdickBendybatch Tue 07-Feb-12 19:51:38

Nope. Not chilblains..

Gasbluewithlavenderbeads Tue 07-Feb-12 19:58:58

Itchy or tingly? Sensation of buzing or insects crawling? My little boy has had this for months and has just been told he has sciatic nerve compression

Fayrazzled Tue 07-Feb-12 20:01:01

Oooooohhh it means you'll be going on a journey.

Sorry. Not helpful I know, but that;s what my mum would say.

tardisjumper Tue 07-Feb-12 20:02:17

I have pomphylox eczema and I had this for months before any rash appeared. Was sooo annoying as I couldn't show anyone how bad it was iyswim.

Jux Tue 07-Feb-12 20:13:00

Do you exfoliate? Could be dead skin not sloughing off. Flexitol is good for that.

Petrean Tue 07-Feb-12 20:17:01

Fay my Mum also says that... Her other one is an itchy nose means you're going to have a fight.

Sorry slight hijack. Entropy might post in a minute and suggest you're allergic to nanoparticles, do you buy your socks from Sainsbury's?

CumberdickBendybatch Tue 07-Feb-12 20:20:30

It's itchy. Hot irritating ITCHY.. ARGH! Sciatic nerve compression is interesting, thankyou.

Fayrazzled - thank you, i knew it was something but couldn't remember what. Hopefully I am grin

tardis - did you have any other eczema symptoms before this? I have incredibly dry skin which is red and bumpy at the moment with the cold.

Jux - I have ped-egged my feet until I was at risk of breaking the skin - usually exfoliating does it, but it's the really smooth bits right down the middle of my foot. Really doesn't help that scratching is INCREDIBLY ticklish.

again.

AAAARGH

CumberdickBendybatch Tue 07-Feb-12 20:21:40

Petrean I DO buy my socks rom Sainsburys..

interesting..

wink

Petrean Tue 07-Feb-12 20:26:08

Ooohhh then you should read the post started by entropygirl... I can't link because of my iPhone. smile

Petrean Tue 07-Feb-12 20:26:26

Not post, I meant thread.

CumberdickBendybatch Tue 07-Feb-12 20:30:54

This one ?

Tis a bit frightening. Now I want to throw away all my Sainsbury's socks and buy some new ones. Incidentally, the only things that irritate my skin are crappy metals/cheap jewellery. Has to be pure gold/silver/platinum/stainless steel or I get a red bumpy rash.

Petrean Tue 07-Feb-12 20:36:46

smile well I think it's unlikely to be your socks, but you could always change the type and see if that makes any difference.

Are you wearing warmer shoes/boots that may be making your feet sweatier than usual?

maxpower Tue 07-Feb-12 20:36:52

ooooh cumberdick I've had really itchy feet the last 3 nights - no rash or anything, no history of eczema. our central heating wasn't working over the weekend so our house was absolutley freezing and I'd resorted to wearing socks in bed, so maybe that has something to do with it. I'll see how I get on tonight.

CumberdickBendybatch Tue 07-Feb-12 21:20:07

Is somewhat calmer now, but Jesus tapdancing batshit CHRIST its driving me insane.

Any anti itching cream available?

msfishneedsabycycle Tue 07-Feb-12 21:37:54

I had really itchy feet when i had glandular fever...it affected my liver which made my feet itch,,otherwise i felt fine. i came out in spots later....lovely!

CumberdickBendybatch Tue 07-Feb-12 21:52:33

Something wrong with your liver can make your feet itch? Of dear...

msfishneedsabycycle Tue 07-Feb-12 22:03:57

Apparently so,,,the glandular fever affected my liver, made my feet itch and then I came out in spots.....was years ago now, but I still remember the terrible itchy feet.

TheFarSide Wed 06-Jun-12 23:18:43

Did you get this sorted CB ? I've had excruciating itching on the bottom of my foot a few times lately - no rash or anything. It seems to happen when my feet get really cold ... and improves when they warm up again.
