I have had these symptoms for a couple of days, diagnosed today as Labyrinthitis, however I now feel as if I am getting shingles (have had before, am on immunosurpressants so v prone to these things)

Last time I got shingles I had bad Glandular Fever so other than the pain I didn't really notice other symptoms as I was feeling so dreadful and asleep most of the time. I just wondered if anyone else had had this too or whether I maybe have both!

I don't know if this is helpful, CD. I had viral labyrinthitis three years ago. It came out of the blue and I had all the classic symptoms of it. I got over the worst part but several days later developed really weird sensory sensations elsewhere. I had tingling in my toes and fingers, sometimes a numbness too. Sometimes I felt a sensation on my back like a piece of material was rubbing against it. It drove me to distraction and I thought I was imagining things! I was referred to a neurologist and had lots of tests including MRI scan, nerve conduction studies and blood tests. All were normal.
Labyrinthitis only affects your inner ear and sense of balance. I haven't a clue what caused the other neurological symptoms. The strange sensations took about 12 weeks to fully go. Never had this before and not had it since, thank god. Hope you feel better.
