I have just been told today by a friend of a friend that they've heard that dying your hair can cause cancer. I felt quite concerned as i have my hair highlighted every 3/4 months and have done for afew years now. Is this just another of those scary stories or is there any truth in it does anybody know?

cheesus ( sorry knicked that from what kids say thread)

i cant dye my hair!? i cant smoke, i cant eat tasty things cos they make me fat(ter) cant eat fruit and veg unless its organic, cant eat meat becuase the government lies so much who the hell can tell. only wear clothes made by people who are paid a decent wage in a civilised country. cant buy from mutlinational chains.
so - cant look good, smoke, eat, shop.

All products like hair dye will carry some risk as they are made up of man-made chemicals etc etc - so at the risk of toning the mood down.(pun intended!)..here comes the science (ish)....most hair dyes contain phenylenediamine, coal tars, hydroxyanisole...none of which are particularly healthy(!) and have been linked (not proven yet I don't think) to causing severe eye irritations (so does poking yourself with your masara tho'!!) and possibly carcinogenic.

What do i do? - cover up the grey of cours - because I'm worth it!!

Anyway, highlights don't really touch your skin so I would say they have to be the 'safest' form of hair colouring. I colour my hair. Better dead than grey, IMO!

I've been dyeing my hair for 30 years can't stop now, I wouldn't look like me. But must say I didn't do it when pregnant, I let it all grow out, but started again straight after!
