My DD is 20 weeks old and I started the expected hair falling out a few weeks ago. Loads seems to come out in the shower and when I style it, will I get bald bits? Sorry if this sounds mad, I did know that this could happen, but am wondering how long it goes on for?

Thanks

I should not worry, it does seem like a lot but you will not go bald.

Thanks Panchey!

When you are pregnant, your hair doesn't fall out as usual so you often end up with a thicker lovelier head of hair. Postnatally this extra hair comes out - and it seems loads!!!- and then you end up with your old hair back (I mean in terms of thickness).

I had to clean the plughole every day for what felt like ages (prob a few weeks) it does stop eventually!

20 weeks is the classic time for this. I had bad hair loss for approx 3 weeks and then it slowed down considerably....back to normal, which I had forgotten about!! It;s when your hair starts to come back through and you look like a duckling that it's worse! My hair is almost as thick as it was, but I've had 3 so it probably doesn't help.

UGH this is the worst bit isn't it, i got a period and my hair started falling out the same weekend this time. my dc2 is 6 months old, hair started coming out about 4 months in. it still comes out a bit when i wash it, but nowhere near as bad as it was - all matted around my fingers! and it is growing back which is a relief. underneath my shoulder length hair there's a crew cut going on

Thanks, it's a relief to know I probably won't go bald....I knew about this hair thing, but I thought it would start very soon after birth, so thought that I had escaped it...! I feel like some sort of moulting animal
