pretty personal problem down below

Sorry if this is a bit graphic but I'd love to hear from anyone whose had a similiar problem! Since having my son (5 years ago) I've never felt quite right down below when having sex. I had lots of stitches and felt sore for a long time. Although thats mainly passed I now have problems with what I think is dryness because when having sex it feels quite painful at the sides of my vagina. On a couple of occasions I've bled slightly, and when I went to the doctors she didn't examine me but said that as the bleeding happened only ocasionally it was very likely that it was some kind of vaginal abrasion and nothing to worry about. Plus I have no other symptoms (discharge, etc) to indicate anything else. However, I'm back to square one -sex still feels pretty uncomfortable and now I'm paranoid that I'm going to bleed everytime which isn't exactly a turn on! I've tried lubrication a couple of times but that didn't make much difference. The only other thing I can think of is that my pill (Microgynon) which I've been taking for about 18 mths and in which time the problem has got worse could be affecting me although my doctor insists that it shouldn't make a difference.
Just wondering if anyone else had gone through the same thing after childbirth and if so what was the problem. Sorry to be so personal but my GP is useless!
