Feeling sick few days before period due-anyone else experience this?

My last few periods I've been feeling ill a few days before I'm due-nausea, dicky tummy, sleeplessness. Is this an age thing? (Am 42 soon) Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes I get it. Saw Dr during an episode of it (coincidentally) and I had also very low blood pressure. Now I eat a salty snack when I feel like this - I also take losec if the dicky tummy gets unbearable.

Not much I can do about the lack of sleep though and I'm sure being tired doesn't help nausea in any way.

I'm 36 and I've been like this forever.

I was going to post something similar - I've started having this since having DS2, I'm 33. Just before my period starts almost every month I pretty much feel like I would in early pregnancy - not ttc or being careless so I know I'm not but have that general sick-y feeling, am tired grumpy etc. I assume it's something to do with hormone levels don't really know. I didn't have it before having children

Thanks for replies-glad to know its not just me (though not glad others are suffering!) Come to think of it,started happening to me soon after DD3 who's 16 months now. It does feel like early pregnancy-I even considered doing a test though know its highly unlikely!!

Yes,connected to severe hyperemesis in pg I think.

I wasn't sick when pg - though did have the nausea pretty much for weeks at a time.

I also get migraines - anyone else?

I've been getting this recently too, dizziness, neausea, just a general feeling of being not quite right a couple of days before my periods, it turns out I'm aneamic (again).

janeite · 30/07/2009 21:34

I get this - upset tummy, horrible migraine-like pain in one eye, tiredness and generally flu-like symptons. I was hospitalised in both pregnancies with hyperemesis and am almost certainly anaemic (although never go to doc's so not diagnosed).

Why do periods change after dc? Mine are much more regular but heavier and accompanied by nausea, tiredness, swollen belly and major pmt.

interesting thread Howling

I get an upset tummy and nausea too and a migraine-like headache three days after my period has finished (am 45)

I'm anaemic too

do you mind me asking Fuzzy - did your doc say the nausea is definitely attributable to the anaemia? I asked mine and she said it definitely wasn't - was v. surprised frankly ...

I know Hollyoaks. And the standard line from the doc is "oh periods usually get better after you've had a child"

not

Hollyoaks - I'm exactly the same.

Glad its not just me, though the only bonus is my cycle is bang on time and I know exactly when I ovulate and exactly when I'm due.

Dr, said the anemia wasn't helping it, I've felt a little bit better since starting iron supplements, but I'm waiting to see how I am next month!!

I'm 40 and my periods have been a bit erratic recently. The last couple I have been almost convinced that I;m PG due to similar symptoms. Last one I tested but negative. But this month, I felt a bit fluey, swollen, very irratable etc. I keep meaning to see GP to see whether it could be early menopause.

Can't believe how many people seem to suffer the same symptoms! I only made the link with feeling like this to my period the other day. My legs have got that achey fluey sensation now but paracetomol seems to sort that out. Thanks for all your responses!

Yes - I get it in the legs too - tis horrible. I feel terrible today. On the other hand, I'm hoping this means my period is going to come early and be gone before I go away.

I get it and have done for the last few years (am now 38). I find it feels quite low sugerish as well so I tend to make sure I eat something.

I got the flu leg feeling last month and cancelled a weeks work because I thought I must have swine flu.

Had a lovely week off and then my period started and I felt a bit of an idiot.

But I really did feel completely grim.

I'm exactly the same with the nausea, also get it a couple of days round ovulation. It's horrible and makes you feel terrible. I've never actually been sick just feel very sick.

Yep. Just come off the pill 6 months ago remembering why I went on it in the first place now and all this has come flooding back. It's usually the day before. Initially it freaked me out. But now I've started keeping tabs on it it's ok. Still awful to sit and feel sick but at least I know why now...
