Any inspirations?

I've tried introducing a dummy, but he's not massively interested.

TIA

tried the mitten - he wasn't having any of that!!!!!

just he seems a bit young to be painting stuff on it to discourage him. i don't mind him sucking any other of his fingers, just not the sore one!

no i wouldnt pain anything on it
is it possible to get something natural to repel him? Or a plaster as he might get put off by the texture?????/

We had this with dd and nothing stopped her . We had to tape it up really securely - crossing under the joint and around her hand - as she'd gnawed away at her thumb and got it infected. Apparently when it starts to get sore their instinct is to gnaw it more . I was paranoid about her sucking it off and when it did come off (on her 1st birthday) I spent a hour or so concerned she'd swallowed it until it turned up in her car seat !! If you do manage to tape it then he'll probably just suck the other one for a while. dd's did heal after a few days enough that we could take the bandage off and the scar is barely noticeable.

Now at 3 1/2 she still sucks it - aargh ! - trying to get her to stop in the daytime atm.

My dd sucked her 3rd and 4th fingers so much that she had a huge abcess come up on one - we used lots of micropore tape to wrap it up to stop her sucking, and substituted a dummy at night time. We did have to retape regularly though
