Prolapse Surgery

I wonder whether anyone can help with experience/suggestions on what I should do? I have a vaginal prolapse and the consultant says I should have surgery. I have four kids and am not planning anymore but am very scared of hospitals (I had home births) I can't live with the prolapse (have ring at the mo but this is terrible for sex life!). The consultant says I will need to sign up for hysterectomy and won't know until I wake up whether I have had this or just some stitches to support everything. I have had some physio (after 3rd DS) but physio said my muscle tone was very good just that everything had stretched too far... Has anyone any experience of the surgery or suggestions? My youngest DD is 9 months - how practical is it really not to lift anything/one for six weeks (min) with four small children. Know this all sounds pathetic but really don't know what way to turn...Thanks.

Thanks lockets for your help.
Does your Mum feel fine now and is the prolapse sorted? I still feel a bit young to be having this operation (everyone I seem to talk to about it knows of older people but not 30 somethings...)
